Off topic, but there are Texas ties to both of those teams, two of the best single-season clubs in NFL history. — Steve McMichael was one of the six eventual Hall of Fame players for the '85 Bears. — Terry Orr was a member of the '91 Redskins. He won two Super Bowl titles with the franchise.

I think that's what we're going to get when the conference championship games go away. Playing the national semifinals on New Year's Day (it should always be the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, IMO) makes more sense to get portal activity going before the start of the spring semester.
