Four days until kickoff and today’s countdown number has some serious Texas history behind it, as No. 4 has been worn by some absolute dudes. Roy Williams finished his Texas career with 241 receptions, 3,866 yards and 36 touchdowns and, when he left Austin, he was the school’s career leader in all three categories. He was a three-time first-team All-Big 12 selection and remains one of the best receivers Texas has ever produced. Phil Dawson was one of the most dependable kickers in school history. Dawson finished with 339 career points and 59 made field goals, earned All-America honors and eventually went into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor. Kenny Vaccaro brought a completely different style to No. 4. The hard-hitting safety finished with 264 career tackles, earned first-team All-America honors in 2012, was a two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection and became a first-round NFL Draft pick. Limas Sweed totaled 124 catches for 1,915 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2006 and was part of the 2005 National Championship team. DeShon Elliott put together one of the best seasons by a Texas defensive back in recent memory. Elliott picked off six passes in 2017, returned two for touchdowns, was a unanimous All-American and finished as a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. Who y'all taking? Four days!

The record chase is on! LW-C now has 7,784 career rushing yards on 789 carries and 134 touchdowns. He also has 55 receptions for 738 yards in his career. Spring Westfield won their season opener 16-10 over Houston Heights. Westfield is lead by Arizona Wildcat commits Davon Smith (LB) and Jaylen Oliver (S),Texas Tech commit Dontae Perkins (OL) and Texas State pledge Antonio Underwood (DL). These articles always omit that Texas in season victories often determine who falls from the final season top ten polls. There are only two teams Texas has to beat. Before Sark there were about 15 teams to which Texas could lose. 🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏿

IF Mitchell ends up being eligible at Missouri ... they are definitely right there with anyone else in the SEC in terms of top 7'ish roster talent. I'm not sure how the pieces would fit without seeing them in person, but very talented. Top 5 team in the league with Mitchell.

Since he was hired as head coach in 2021, Steve Sarkisian has lost 12 games in AP-ranked matchups. That's tied with Penn State for the most during that span. He's 1-6 against Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State, and 3-12 against teams in the top 10 of the final AP poll. So yes, the team he has overfloweth with talent. It's good enough to match up against any team in the country. Who would be your "plus 1"? Street?

Slim pickins this week-not a lot to choose from as far as quality matchups go. Colorado at Georgia Tech (-6.5): I have no clue, but I'll take GT at home. Clemson at #11 LSU (-10): Clemson has Chad Morris at OC, but not sure that will even help. I expect LSU to win comfortably and cover. Wisconsin at #4 Notre Dame (-20.5): ND is solid, but I am not sure they will cover 20pts. #24 Louisville at #9 Ole Miss (-7): Tough to call this one. If I had to pick the Dog of the week, I would pick Louisville to beat Ole Miss. #19 SMU(-3.5) at FSU: I would have probably picked FSU at home, but damn, they made NMSU look somewhat competitive. I'll take SMU. Who do you guys have? Is there a game I didn't list that should have?

Clark is unstoppable. She could average 40 a game if she felt like it, but she's the point guard so she distributes the ball. For a superstar, she handles her fame with humility and class. The criticism she gets is unfair. Every player in the W complains about fouls, flops, takes wild shots. Reese is a monster under the boards. Her game has improved so much since her rookie year. She's in the perfect spot. Her coach believes in her, supports her, and he has changed her to be a much better player and teammate. Both girls are bad mamasitas.
