  2. The American Football Coaches Association FBS All-America Team is out, and three Texas players made the list. — Michael Taaffe (first-team defensive back) — Colin Simmons (second-team defensive line) — Anthony Hill Jr. (second-team linebacker) This is the first NCAA-recognized All-American team to have all three Longhorns on the squad.
  3. When I checked their schedule to make sure we were actually on it for those years I was surprised to see that in 2029 Notre Dame opens with Alabama, three weeks before they are scheduled to play Texas. Think what a hit it would be to their SOS if both SEC teams decide to cancel based on the CFP not valuing SOS highly enough.
  4. I'm assuming we're trying to not look petty by cancelling it days after the committee leaving us out.
  5. also, no one should schedule ND anymore until they join a conference. I'm personally in the "for" big OOC game camp, but I think we should cancel ND to make both points. 🤘
  6. We are going to “honor” the Ohio St and Michigan games because they are both to be televised by Disney / ESPN, who expects a huge ratings windfall for these games in the September inventory. The first two games against Ohio St and Michigan were televised by Fox, so now it’s time for Disney to get its cut. It’s also worth recalling that Disney paid a big “transition” fee to assist Texas and OU when we were leaving the Big 12 (negotiating the exit fees), and part of that transition negotiation was allowing Fox to televise the first two Texas vs tOSU and Michigan games on their network. So, I don’t think Texas is really in a position to not “honor” these return games and deny our benefactor (Disney) a huge payday. Not to mention, Disney owns the CFB Playoffs and its structure / committee process, so Texas shouldn’t be whining too loud about the CFB Playoffs (however justified).
  7. Sark said the same thing at his signing day press conference on Dec. 3, which is about all he can say right now.
  8. Interesting article on the ESPN site titled "Steve Sarkisian: Texas to honor Ohio State, Michigan games". Opening paragraph - "ORLANDO, Fla. -- Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday the Longhorns would honor the return nonconference games with Ohio State in 2026 and Michigan in 2027, but would reconsider its nonconference scheduling philosophy beyond that based on College Football Playoff selection criteria" What's left unsaid is that "beyond that" seemingly would include our currently schedule games with Notre Dame in 2028 (Sept 9 in South Bend) and 2029 (Sept 22 in Austin). No mention of Notre Dame in the article, which stresses that the committee seemingly didn't consider strength of schedule enough. Another quote: "If we're not going to value strength of schedule, then surely that's going to adjust what we do moving forward in our nonconference scheduling. We're going to nine SEC conference games, so to think that we're going to play a 10th game against an Ohio State and Michigan, and who knows else down the road, I hope we get credit for that. If not, then we really need to look after the '27 season." Shots fired at the CFP architects and, indirectly at Notre Dame.
  9. Of course he is coming back. Where else is he gonna go?
  10. Marcel One Read scares me bad
  11. I also support expanding the playoff to 24 teams, as it helps reduce the impact of significant strength-of-schedule disparities in college football that can exclude teams with legitimate championship potential—particularly in the SEC—simply because of who they play. College basketball provides a useful comparison: numerous teams have lost 25% or more of their regular-season games and still gone on to reach or win the NCAA championship. In fact, over the past 40 seasons, four teams have advanced to the championship game despite losing more than 30% of their regular-season games, which is roughly equivalent to a 9–3 or even 8–4 team in college football
  12. Today
  13. With the caveat that Wiggins may work out, we don't know......they hired a guy they don't know if he can call plays or organize the offense! Bizarre.
  14. Unfortunately Basketball sucks. Baseball can win it all this year so that could help
  15. Doesn’t matter. Reed is coming back so they’re going to win it all. 😂
  16. This is awesome news.... Klein was bad but tis will be a disaster.
  17. He has not which is why so many aggys are in FULL MELTDOWN!
  18. The aggie247 board does not seem to be very excited about this move. LOL.
  19. Where he’s being mocked by publications and writers isn’t necessary what the NFL thinks or how teams view him as a prospect. Gerry mentioned in his recent Goosby update that the opinions ranged from the middle of the first round to early in the second round as to where he’d go if he put his name in the ‘26 draft. In other words, he’s not viewed as a lock to be a mid-first-round pick.
  20. Coach Poggi doesn't specify who the kids feel betrayed by. I'm assuming he means betrayed by Coach Moore's horrible actions. But I can't help but wonder if its betrayal from the school for terminating Coach Moore? Or betrayed by something or someone else? Or all of it? This is a messed-up situation for these young men and their parents to be in. Certainly, will test their faith and mental mettle.
  21. The big unknown is who of the Michigan players and recruits will enter the portal or ask that their NLI be revoked?? Maliki Lee will instantly have two round the clock DPS trooper bodyguards assigned to him if he renounces his NLI.
  22. Jeff, thanks for further explaining the NFL fiscal management policy which Texas is employing. This certainly would make more sense if all teams (like the NFL model) were abiding by the same rules. Unfortunately, there are teams like Tech, Oregon and now USC operating under a different set of rules. Until we have an even playing field there's going to be a lot of frustration with college football. Is OTF expecting more uniformity in 2026 or more of the same?
  23. When Coach says this, it reminds me of when Dad would say the same things - "$$ doesn't grow on trees" - but in reality he was holding on to it for emergencies. Our portal needs might just qualify for this.
  24. Biff Poggi PC in Orlando yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeufJWR6lnI
