Yet we're not talking about Ohio State, are we? We're talking about teams that defensively, aren't very good. Why would I watch anyone else as intently or with fervor? I only care about Texas. The fact is, when watching them, you can see the problems. It's that simple.

I agree. He has reported a lot of solid information that definitely has me excited for the upcoming season and beyond. Watched Miller at Arizona and Xavier. Dont really care much about the scandal, what he was accused of at Arizona is 100% legal now anyway.🤘🏿🤘🏿

Imagine chasing down the angle only to see you have to make it through a literal giant.

OU better be ready with all the trash their fans are talking. Our D is coming and the one man Sooner show is about to get hit by a freight train.

It’s left to tight. G-c-g as the weak links with Campbell the worst against what he should be. Stroh seems to have a super low floor because of balance/feet while also playing too early. We’ve heard baker is a technician but currently that means bring in the right place to get overpowered. If Kibble and Brooks are clearly superior athletically and drive wise to Stroh, Campbell, or Baker, play them.

Kyle Flood has got to go

Have you ever watched anyone else with the same fervor? Maybe go watch several other games with the same intent. In the run game, it’ll be tough on a given play for every guy to win. And I will tell you that broadcast footage is pretty limited. More context. We are 59th in run blocking grade and 42nd in pass blocking. Ohio State is top 20 in both run defensive grade and pass rush grade. - Today

@Gerry Hamilton is an excellent basketball reporter. Look up some of his older posts. Sure he’ll have more soon. -

Our team is huge. I just hope we have a couple of good point guards. -

Could not agree more. He knows how to team build and coach. Love what he has done to build a formidable roster here already and I think we will begin to see the difference this season. He will only build on that moving forward. He has coached numerous conference champions and has had strong success in the dance as well. I love his experience and don’t think coaching here will be too big for him at all. He knows what he is doing. Great hire. -
I don’t know what to think. I know Texas has notoriously played down to opponents. I’m sure their mind will be in a different place playing an SEC team and they’ll look and perform better.
-
I don't know what the solution is. I watched the game again and there is flashes of the OL doing well but then I just see so many poor moments. This is against one of the worst FBS defenses around at the moment. How that isn't a concern for people, is worrying to me. I know we put up 600 yards and 55 points but the OL is still a weak point. I'm not sure there is a quick fix for it, this seems to be our best 5 including or excluding Hutson. This is going to be a concern moving forward into the SEC. OU has a pretty good DL, not sure but I think Florida is pretty good on the DL, too. We'll see how we hold up there.

All - Since we are in an off-week, I was hopeful that we could get a good discussion going about Coach Miller and his impact on our Mens Basketball team. When Xavier defeated us last year, I wished then that we could steal this coach - the wrongdoing is water under the bridge, and IMHO he is a heck of a coach. Nothing against previous coaches, just saying it should be real fun. P🤘

SHSU PFF Grades Goosby: 64.7 Stroh: 63.5 Robertson: 51.8 Campbell: 71.2 Baker: 69.2 Nate Kibble: 56.7 Daniel Cruz: 61. 1 Nick Brooks: 71.2 Overall not very good given the caliber of opponent we faced. Should use the bye week to go insert Cruz at center and slide Hutson over to LG. Once again Stroh is the lowest graded starter.

Penalties - What needs to be done?
Here for the Wins replied to Hashtag's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I guess if you consider the guy lined up as LT, likely covered up, blocking 5 yards downfield and engaged with the defender as legit. I’m not saying it should be called. If you can point me to the discussion saying that’s ok, I’d legitimately be interested. Technically, I’d say he’s illegally downfield and committing pass interference. Then, if we wish to discuss targeting, the rules stipulate “no player shall target….” It requires “one indicator of targeting.” It references a legal tackle and provides some indicators, which obviously is not all inclusive. It references a launch. A crouch followed by upward and forward thrust. Leading with the helmet. Lowering the head. Taaffe ran through his tackle. Both arms wrap around the receiver. The intent of the rule is not to eliminate incidental football contact. The play was bang-bang with two dudes trying to play football. There’s nothing in the rule that I see it is undoubtedly a foul. -
Penalties - What needs to be done?

This is our best year yet haha!! Seriously though, I think part of it does have to do with the pre-snap movement and motion that forces o-line to be in stances longer than others and with teammates moving around in their peripheral vision plus defensive adjustments. The holding is just lack of awareness IMO, these guys (DJ Campbell I’m looking at you) need to learn to let go and take a shorter gain or even a loss rather than setting us back so far behind the chains. Special teams on return specifically is to just leave it alone if there’s ANY chance of a block in the back or a hold. I think it is a lot about teaching these guys to trust their technique AND athleticism as well as the guys around them. Also, maturity, knowing that making fewer mistakes in critical moments sets you up for success AND the added benefit of forcing your opponent to have to perform without making a mistake. As a baseball player we took pride in the teams that were successful at committing the fewest errors and making all the fundamental plays. THAT takes a team from good to great and makes those tough games come out in your favor. -
I think calling Baker the weak link is a little much IMO. But that’s just me. I found it interesting that they slid Baker to left tackle when they inserted Brooks at right tackle.

We had a very experienced line the past two years and these penalties have existed.

The carrying of Skattebo into the EZ and the non-targeting call against Isaiah Bond were bad. He was head-hunted. That game still causes me stress. As the OL gains more experience, I think their penalties will dissipate. Focus needs to be 100%. -

Fernando is a fantastic quarterback who is much better than people are giving him credit for. He put up decent numbers at Cal despite being pressured and knocked on his ass more than almost any QB in the country. Cal’s O line was porous, and that’s being nice. He’s smart, he goes through his progressions and is cool under pressure. He can tuck the ball and run surprisingly well. He works his ass off, stays late throwing extra and puts in his time looking at film. He’s from a great family and is involved with MS charities. What we’re seeing now is what he can do with time. He’s surgical. He’s already close to the top of a lot of draft boards, and his stock is only improving. Yeah. I’m a big fan.
