The Texas Longhorns are headed to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row.

Texas (20-12) was just announced on CBS as the No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region.

The Longhorns will face the winner of Virginia and Colorado State in the  No. 10 seed play in game.

The Round of 64 game will take place Thursday in Charlotte, N.C.

The winner of the Midwest Region No. 7 vs No. 10 Round of 64 game will face the winner of No. 2 seed Tennessee and No. 15 seed St. Peter’s Saturday.

The Longhorns advanced to the Elite 8 last year.

Very favorable R64 draw for the Longhorns. Virginia flirted with the NIT after a loss to 10-Seed NC State in OT in the ACC tournament. Colorado State has four players averaging 10+ this season. Fun team from a competitive conference, though someone Texas should handle.

The possible meeting with Rick Barnes and Tennessee is what intrigues me the most.

No Oklahoma in the tournament this year.

Also, Indiana State misses the tournament as the 27th team in the NET rating - the highest rated team to miss the tournament. Committee gave UVA the nod based off program reputation.

Texas as a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament since 1999 (when Rick Barnes took over)

1999-00: No. 7 seed Texas lost to No. 10 seed Purdue 58-54

2008-09: No. 7 seed Texas beat No. 10 seed Minnesota 76-62. Texas lost to No. 2 seed Duke 74-69 in the Round of 32

2013-14: No. 7 seed Texas beat No. 10 seed Arizona State 87-85. Texas lost to No. 2 seed Michigan 79-65 in the Round of 32

2021-22: No. 7 seed Texas (Chris Beard's first and only season) beat No. 10 seed Virginia Tech 81-73. Texas lost to No. 2 seed Purdue 81-71 in the Round of 32.

If it's Virginia in Round of 64 (which I think it will be) ... the Cavaliers finished third in the ACC at 13-7.

They are not a quality free throw shooting team. And play the slowest pace in college basketball. Would be a tempo game for Texas to try and control pace.

It's time for Texas' roster of players with deep March Madness runs and experience to take over ...

Players on roster than have played in a Sweet 16 game:
Max Abmas
Tyrese Hunter (2 S16 & 1 EE)
Dillon Mitchell (2 S16 & 1 EE)
Brock Cunningham (2 S16 & 1 EE)
Dylan Disu (injured prior to S16 game)

Played in NCAA Tournament Round of 64 game:
Kadin Shedrick
