Moderators CJ Vogel Posted Tuesday at 11:00 PM Moderators Posted Tuesday at 11:00 PM Early in the season, Brown had some impactful moments with the offensive staff. As Texas looked to gain a rhythm in the red area, I was made aware that Brown put his fingerprints on a few areas of the Texas offense earlier in the season. This was a good hire from Sarkisian, a former head coach who had a clear strength in the running game. Texas benefitted this season as a result of Neal Brown. 9 1 Quote
kobe moldrem Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM Can’t imagine Scott would go unless it’s encouraged by Sark or it’s an OC title Quote

He's been at the forefront of what I've called the hybrid spread culture in football, where you can run a modern, wide-open offense with heavy personnel. 3 Quote

If he was a big help in the running game I would have hated to see it if he weren’t around 😳 1 Quote

AusMOJO Posted Wednesday at 12:08 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:08 AM I'm not sure he was as much of benefit as you're claiming here Jeff, but I do wish him all the best at UNT, big shoes to fill, that is for sure. Quote
Inspired73 Posted Wednesday at 09:48 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:48 PM People tend to look at records, then draw their conclusions. If you win, you are a good coach. If you lose, you are a poor coach. In the old days......ie, before UIL (and ignoring bagmen issues) this was probably a reasonable assumption. Sadly, today it isn't as much about coaching as it player purchases. I am an idealistic old man. It is hard to rationalize why a kid would go to SMU when they could go to Texas, or Stanford, or Michigan, etc. I rather image that there are folks in West Virgina regretting their decision. Quote
