Georgia cancels two scheduled series for the future.

The first is Georgia and Louisville set for 2026 and 2027. Then the Georgia and NC State series which was much further down the road was cancelled as well.

This of course comes on the heels of Alabama cancelling its series with USF in 2026.

Still, Texas remains scheduled to play Ohio State in 2026, Michigan in 2027, and Notre Dame in 2028-29.

Cancel Notre Dame

It does Texas no benefit to keep these massive non conference games. With a nine game conference schedule, there is no reason to add another Georgia to your schedule just because you can.

Evidenced by this season.

This season and the committee’s actions , even after the fist thing in the bylaws being “SOS” clearly tells us that we should not schedule hard. ND , sucks , but they are smart to do what they do. More times than not, get the easier win and get in.
We have been screwed in 2008 and now again in 2025 , different ways but a chance lost both times.

I’ll schedule Baylor and win and be in the playoffs. You schedule Osu and ND in the regular season and I’ll save you seats at the Texas bowl

Until we win and get a top seed because strength of schedule

We will get top seed going 12-0 regardless so might as well make it as easy as possible to obtain that. Our SOS will passively be high anyway with our conference schedule. Absolutely no point in playing those games early in season when you will meet those caliber teams in playoff(x4 potentially)

Teams that play the tougher games in season will perform better later in the season vs playing UTSA UTEP and Rice not considering how many more fans would go to a big time game vs a cupcake and more tv views

We will passively play tougher games late in season due to SEC schedule. First 3 games should be warmups to see how depth does or names starters. That way we don’t end up with what was our offensive line this season.

Did playing the schedule that Indiana played out of conference make them play worse late in the season?

We will be more than prepared for late season and playoffs with the future scheduling:

No, keep the challenging non cons.  When the CFP goes to 16 there will be several 3 loss teams and the SOS will matter more . Or win the games lol. We aren’t Notre dame cry babies. Let’s have some foresight for once.

Cupcake opponents and lesser teams do not produce more revenue.  If it did, the whole Texas schedule would be FCS teams.

So what if all the power teams wimp out their OOC schedules and there are 8 12 - 0 teams post regular season.  Which get the the "top seeding?".  🤦🏾‍♂️

Name a time in the last 50 years where there was more than 2-3 undefeated teams.
