Sunday 4:40pm Notes

- Running back Hollywood Smothers, Yale OL Mikey Bennett and Pitt LB Rasheem Biles were the only official visitors this weekend

- Oklahoma State defensive end Wendell Gregory, who was named the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2025, is thought to be nearing a decision. Texas, Texas Tech and Wisconsin are all involved and he has visited all three schools.

Gregory, who will be a redshirt sophomore, signed with South Carolina before transferring to the Cowboys, where he totaled four sacks, this past year.

- With the pledges of running backs Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers, Christian Clark is expected to officially enter his name into the transfer portal. The redshirt freshman from Phoenix started the Citrus Bowl for the Longhorns and rushed for 100 yards and 1 TD against Michigan.

After the bowl game and the transfers of Tre Wisner and CJ Baxter, many thought Clark would be the heir apparent in the RB room next season. But Texas hit the portal heavily in an attempt to upgrade the room overall.

- Miami defensive tackle Donta Simpson has committed to Missouri. He visited Texas last week.

- Running back CJ Baxter has pledged to Kentucky.

- Neither Bennett nor linebacker Cade Uluave has made a decision yet. Uluave visited Michigan over the weekend.

- Even though it's a recruiting dead period tomorrow through Wednesday, more players will enter the portal tomorrow.

- Texas remains on the lookout for offensive linemen, linebackers and perhaps more.

As for offensive linemen, with the returns of Trevor Goosby, Connor Robertson and Brandon Baker, the Horns are likely looking for at least two more starter-level prospects to compete with Nick Brooks, Dylan Sikorski and others.

Monday 5:08pm

Oklahoma State defensive end Wendell Gregory was thought to be narrowing in on a decision late Sunday.

However, a new week means a new vision for his future, according to an agent source.

Gregory was thought to be deciding between Texas, Wisconsin, Texas Tech and Kansas State. The Longhorns and Wildcats (somewhat surprisingly) were thought to be the primary competitors.

Now, after not reaching a deal with Texas to K-State, it appears Gregory’s going back on the open market.

Texas will continue to monitor, and things could change at a moment’s notice.

**

Cal linebacker Cade Uluave is thought to be deciding between Michigan and BYU with Texas now on the outside looking in.

**

Yale OL Mike Bennett committed to Oregon earlier today.

**

Texas defensive back Warren Roberson announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.

**

We’ll see who else enters the portal this week, both going and coming. It’s a waiting game for colleges nationwide.

Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton announced his intent to enter into the transfer portal about an hour ago.

Seaton is not officially in the portal yet, so Texas, nor any other team, can have direct contact with him until then. Colorado has 2 business days before it must enter him into the portal.

We’ve said all along Texas is going big game hunting in the portal this off-season. Seaton, an expected first rounder next year, is certainly that.

National reports suggest that Texas and Oregon are expected to be primary competitors. Miami, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and LSU are expected to also throw their hat in the ring.

Tuesday AM

Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal yesterday.

Texas is expected to be among those who pursue him.

But Texas can not do that quite yet because he is not *officially* in the portal. Colorado has up to two days to negotiate with Seaton before putting his name into the portal.

Why do those two days matter?

As we’ve come to see during this portal cycle, teams often don’t let their best players just walk.

I’m not only talking about the Michigan OL duo or Florida edge Jayden Woods.

Case in point: Ole Miss OL Delano Townsend who announced this morning his return to the Rebels.

So before folks start rejoicing about Seaton or anyone announcing an entrance to the portal, we need to stop and take a breath. There’s one more hurdle left.

But if that hurdle is cleared…

**

Former Texas receiver DeAndre Moore is expected to decide between Kentucky and Colorado today, according to a source close to Moore.

Colorado has the more lucrative offer on the table and Brennan Marion, the former Texas receivers coach, is now the OC for the Buffs.

**

Oklahoma State defensive end Wendell Gregory has committed to Kansas State.

Gregory visited Texas late last week.

Linebacker Cade Uluave signed with BYU.

**

With four days left, there could still be more elite players enter the portal.
