Moderators Jeff Howe Posted Saturday at 08:45 PM Author Moderators Posted Saturday at 08:45 PM That's it for Sean Miller. Texas is back in action on Wednesday (6 p.m., ESPN2) against Auburn. 2 Quote
Moderators Jeff Howe Posted Saturday at 08:56 PM Author Moderators Posted Saturday at 08:56 PM I’ve got some videos to post. For now, I’m going to try and get home before the weather gets worse. 5 1 Quote
Inspired73 Posted Saturday at 09:43 PM Posted Saturday at 09:43 PM That was a strange game. First half and Second half were completely different animals. The first half shows what happens when a team loses focus. The second half shows the opposite. I am encouraged that the Horns can play eyeball to eyeball with good teams. Now they just need to create the discipline to do it night in, night out......for the entire game. Its been a long time since i was excited about men's basketball. But darn, these guys can play when they focus. 5 Quote

I can't count the number of times in both college and pro basketball that I have seen a team turn the game around by playing defense with intensity. Turnovers produce scores and confidence which helps to produce even more defensive intensity--which increases turnovers and fastbreak points. All of a sudden it's an avalanche in your favor... 2 Quote

AusMOJO Posted yesterday at 01:23 AM Posted yesterday at 01:23 AM I'm not usually a big basketball guy, but I like what Coach Miller is building at Texas. Obviously he needs time to build it but there are encouraging signs. Now we just need to beat Georgia in football and all will be okay lol. 2 Quote

If this was a young team a lack of focus makes sense and a possible big improvement coming as the season progresses, but this is a very experienced group of players. 4 Sr's, 3 Jr's and 1 Soph. Focus shouldn't be an issue and I'm just not optimistic we're going to get more consistent. Quote

Focus shouldn't be an issue and I'm just not optimistic we're going to get more consistent. That is a rational view, yet I have slightly more hope. First, Mark has become a consistent high level defender, when he was not early in the season. Second, Matas shows signs of playing smarter now, and more improvement for him is probably an expectation. On the other hand...Wilcher is regressing on offense and defense. The Wilcher disappointment puts Pope or Mark in the lead guard position too often, when both are better offensive threats off the ball. My thoughts on the downside for the season center around lack of depth. Codie is effectively already gone, apparently checked out. Heide is starting by necessity when he was slated to have been a role playing sub. Weaver is starter quality, of course. Traore is limited, but does give decent minutes on D and as a rebounder. Seven guys. Could be eight if Wilcher were as advertised, but now only seven. Duru has not shown anything yet, so I don't count him. Quote
