Bobby Burton Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago He’s saying something interesting things about college sports and the future. Says collective bargaining is a 36-60 month process among other things. 1 Quote
Bobby Burton Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Also: Former Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl suggested a $25mm-$10mm revenue share split between football/basketball, a 2.5-to-1 ratio. This is the problem. No one can agree on much. At Texas, that number would more likely be a 8 or 10 to 1 ratio. Quote
Jaybird Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago Without collective bargaining, any "enforceable cap" or rules structure seems like pure delusion in my opinion. How can an organization designate with any level of certainty what the market for a player is. If team A has he resources and wants to pay player A $X.XX and the other school cannot afford it, seems pretty clear that the market value has been determined. I still think the way the two mega conference structure that we are approaching will need to operate the way the MLB does. I.E. luxury taxes on overspending. Would I love to have a brand new F250? Yeah, but I cannot afford it. Does not mean that my neighbor should have to live by the same rules. Quote
