Former Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl suggested a $25mm-$10mm revenue share split between football/basketball, a 2.5-to-1 ratio.

This is the problem.

No one can agree on much.

At Texas, that number would more likely be a 8 or 10 to 1 ratio.

Without collective bargaining, any "enforceable cap" or rules structure seems like pure delusion in my opinion. How can an organization designate with any level of certainty what the market for a player is. If team A has he resources and wants to pay player A $X.XX and the other school cannot afford it, seems pretty clear that the market value has been determined. I still think the way the two mega conference structure that we are approaching will need to operate the way the MLB does. I.E. luxury taxes on overspending. 

Would I love to have a brand new F250? Yeah, but I cannot afford it. Does not mean that my neighbor should have to live by the same rules.

If I am interpreting the OU organizational structure correctly:

Stephenson’s job is to raise the money for the players

The new AD (Denny) job is to structure the deals with the players

Nagy’s job is to identify the players and determine the money allocation across the roster.  And hire/fire coaches.

Venables’ only job is to call the defense.

The times are changing!

I think you pretty much nailed it! 

I might also add, that if Randall Stephenson, as the leader of Sooner Nation, provides the same leadership, vision, and financial acumen that he demonstrated at ATT.... then OU will be a shell of itself in 5 years.   Start the clock!
