i would have agreed with this 10-15 years ago.  how can this be crazy when the MIAMI LB is getting year 8 of eligibility.

Sports reference shows him as not taking a snap in 2023. I’m guessing 2021 was his RS yr

Seems pretty cut and dry then? 2021 was his redshirt year, 2023 was a medical redshirt year?

Former compliance guy here. Generally, you need 2 “missed participation opportunities” to get an extension. Basically NCAA is looking at if you need a 6th year to compete in 4 true seasons. 

My guess is he redshirted FR year then either didn’t participate in another or had a medical redshirt situation. Those are most common. Will be interesting

You’re not “allowed” two redshirts. But the rules aren’t always the rules anymore
