That 1968 team was pretty awesome by the end of the season. A lot of great players in their last season such as Chris: teammates like Bill Bradley, Corby Robertsen, Loyd Wainscott, Deryl Comer (injured & returned a little in 1970), Ken Gidney, Danny Abbott, Denny Aldridge and others I'm forgetting. But that team blew aTm's socks off (defending SWC Champs with a lot of returners and monkey stomped Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl. Edited yesterday at 05:18 AM by cochamps 2 Quote

I was 9. My seat was in front of Tommy Nobis. He and his buds smoked the biggest cigars I'd ever seen. Had that team started the season in the wishbone, they'd probably have gone undefeated. 1 Quote

Nitpicking here, but they did utilize the Wishbone from the outset of 1968. They tied UH in the opener and lost to Tech in the second game in Lubbock. They fell way behnd Tech early and nearly pulled a off a come back win when they switched QBs to James Street. I think the consensus is that the switch to Street was the pivotal moment for that season and the program. Quote
