  1. A little off subject, but Eric Metcalf was a great football player who did not have much supporting cast. As a result I think he gets underrated, but he was dynamic with his speed, hands and wiggle in his hips. He could make people miss him and out run them.
  2. Another one from the "way back machine" is Herkie Walls. While I'm in the 80's, gotta mention Eric Metcalf and Tony Jones too...
  3. think Roy had a couple of sub 10.2's at Permian also. His track times / distances were pretty amazing
  4. Despite what is reported, not all us boomers have dementia (yet).😂
  5. Exactly, and for every one who makes the Sweet 16 (Sean Miller), there are 20 who get their shorts pulled down if they escape Dayton.
  6. I thought I saw somewhere that he had a Sorsby type issue (gambling) at ASU. Was that just BS?
  7. Grubbs is way off last year's form. Not sure what has happened, but sure wish they could get that back.
  8. Purdue, Northwestern, Nebraska, Minnesota, Rutgers, Maryland, and UCLA. Not including Indiana since CC showed up two years ago. Not counting Michigan State or Wisconsin because they are "mid" and have been decent somewhat recently. There is a lot more under belly there than is in the SEC, jmo.
  9. Maybe we should just go with the hate since that is working? Thanks for the updates JH!
  10. Good luck to the young man, whatever he decides. I love his enthusiasm and think he'll make it in one of the sports, and I think he will have a tough decision to make.
  11. You can start with Kevin Marr, big 12 official from Omaha, NE. Whenever the Horns drew that crew, it felt like a Mafia scum fix. JMO
  12. I'm thinking he's a badass for Sark to do this. Offer list is an indicator.
  13. Nitpicking here, but they did utilize the Wishbone from the outset of 1968. They tied UH in the opener and lost to Tech in the second game in Lubbock. They fell way behnd Tech early and nearly pulled a off a come back win when they switched QBs to James Street. I think the consensus is that the switch to Street was the pivotal moment for that season and the program.
  14. These updates have me pumped, so excited as I come down from DFW for the opening series. I will say that it is going to be different for me without my old buddy Wilson.😪
  15. True, original wishbone was Koy, Worster, and Gilbert. 1969 Champs were Bertelsen, Worster, and Koy. That 1968 team was pretty awesome by the end of the season. A lot of great players in their last season such as Chris: teammates like Bill Bradley, Corby Robertsen, Loyd Wainscott, Deryl Comer (injured & returned a little in 1970), Ken Gidney, Danny Abbott, Denny Aldridge and others I'm forgetting. But that team blew aTm's socks off (defending SWC Champs with a lot of returners and monkey stomped Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl.
  16. His junior year, when he was 3rd in the Heisman voting (a trip to NYC these days), he broke the SWC single season mark which had stood since 1951. Just a helluva back, and everything JimR6 says about what he meant to the program is spot imo. It is shame that knee injuries during that time had such a diblitating effect on players.
  17. Some others who deserve mention: QB: James Street RB: Chris Gilbert & Roosevelt Leaks C : Bill Wyman & Mike Babb OT: Bob McKay LB: Robin Sendlein S : Bill Bradley K : Russell Erxleben (Yes, in addition to Punting) Adding a lot of old-timers, because that is what an old poster does! 😉 Not even going back to Bud McFadin, Harley Sewell etc.
  18. Maybe he could play volleyball with The Elk? 😄 Would love to see him come our way, so we'll need to pay up.
  19. Pretty good at protecting Arch, but about average run blocking, imo.
  20. Not only one of my favorite Longhorns, but also my son's (he was about 15 at the time of that quote). That quote was a home run at the cochamps household. 😄
