How competition can improve Ryan Wingo's mindset and preparation. Wingo has flashed so much potential in his first two years, and he looks so damn dangerous whenever he has the ball in his hands, but I'm not sure anyone thinks he has lived up to his prodigious potential. I was hopeful after his offseason Lasik procedure that the drops would go by the wayside, but they did not go away even with corrective eye surgery.

While a lot has been said about Coleman drawing double teams and making life easier for Wingo, not a lot has been made of what having Coleman opposite Wingo can create urgency to up his game. Wingo's gone from being a much ballyhooed 5 star WR who was given the keys last year, to now finding himself as option #2 on his team. That would get me working harder and make this a contract year for both receivers.

I really feel who ever plays in the slot will have a monster year. He should own the middle of the field with one on one coverage by a safety. Coleman and Wingo will see extra coverage and the slot should lead with receptions and touchdowns.

I might view Coleman and Wingo as 1A and 1B.  It probably doesn’t matter.  Competition is good.  Wingo is an interesting player.  He’s a big play waiting to happen but has bouts in which his instincts fall short.

I wonder how much Wingo was pressing early in the year, which led to all the drops. It’s a lot of pressure as an underclassman to suddenly be asked to shoulder the load as a #1. With Coleman taking a lot of the heat off of Wingo, I wonder if he’s able to play looser.

Wingo actively recruited Coleman.  Wingo is not a fool!

I remember that Wingo was there to recruit and welcome Coleman , but this was after a season where it was obvious that there was a need for Coleman, as opposed to keeping Wingo as the guy. But Wingo's definitely a team player for it.

Coleman should in theory help everyone. Mosley and Wingo will benefit.

The running backs out of the backfield may be the biggest beneficiary of anyone, however, How do you account for the space on check downs to Brown or Smothers while making sure that Wingo, Coleman and Mosley are all covered down the field? That is of course assuming that there is time for Manning to throw the ball in the pocket. But point being, plenty of options for Texas on the offensive side of the ball.

Wingo needs an NIL deal with JUGS. F it get the entire WR room a deal!

I actually think they are both going to help each other. I also agree that if Mosely is in the slot, there is no reason he shouldn't have a monster year.

You can’t have 7 in the box with Coleman on the outside. Offensive line gets better too.
