Posted this on twitter this morning and wanted to carry on the conversation to the board.

No team in the country has scheduled as many marquee, non-conference home and homes than Texas in the last ten years.

  • 2017 – at USC
  • 2018 – vs. USC
  • 2019 – vs. LSU ... greatest offense of all time
  • 2020 – at LSU ... cancelled to Covid
  • 2021 – at Arkansas ... game scheduled in 2011
  • 2022 – vs. Alabama ... one year removed from Heisman Bryce Young and
  • 2023 – at Alabama ... Saban was 103–9 at home before the game
  • 2024 – at Michigan ... reigning National Champs
  • 2025 – at Ohio State ... reigning National Champs
  • 2026 – vs. Ohio State
  • 2027 – vs. Michigan
  • 2028 – at Notre Dame
  • 2029 – vs. Notre Dame

That's as good as it gets. Not to mention Georgia was originally scheduled for 2028-29 which was cancelled when Texas joined the SEC. That series was agreed to in 2018.

To act like Arizona State is on the level of any of the teams mentioned above, sans Arkansas, is outrageous.

ASU almost beat Texas in the 2024 playoffs.

Arkansas was rescheduled at Arkansas request for that originally scheduled earlier.

Sure. But it doesn't change the fact that the excitement for a Texas-Arizona State series would be significantly less than any of the schools mentioned above.

People just want hate watch us, lol.

Almost like what we said about leaving Texas out would have unintended consequences for future OOC scheduling is coming true.

Also, the Notre Dame favoritism from the committee is a complete joke. UConn doesn't get the same benefit and they are independent?

Also, the chances of both Sark and Kenny both still being around in six years is also incredibly low. I think people are remembering ASU's run last year as a great team but that's just recency bias. They are a middle of the pack team in the Big 12 without Kenny.

This is what I end up pinning it on as well.

Which is exactly why Texas needs to continue scheduling the marquee schools.  It also attracts the most motivated and confident players.

True.

True.

This Notre Dame fascination is fascinating.  ESPNs SP+ had them 5th.  FEI has them 4th, with offense and defense individually in the top 6.  Even PFF has them with an overall grade in the top 5 with offensive and defensive units each top 5.

The committee did not even put them in the field of 12 this year.

I know it’s cause they get “beneficial” treatment if they finish in top 12, then they get an invite to a 12 team tournament.

Poll, will the ND series be cancelled?

I don’t think so, but I hope it’s one of the last marquee home and homes notre dame gets until they join a conference.

IMO the defense was pretty bad. Offense scored 39 points.

We got Skattebo’d.  Who was starting to do the same thing to NFL defenses before the injury

Totally off topic but not, speaking on the hate for Texas. The Film Guy, SEC Mike are the worst. They get on OTF, play the good guy and then trash Arch, Sark, and Texas in general when on their own shows. Ari just had a rant about Texas canceling AZ State. Haters gonna hate.

15 of those points came in the 2 OTs. Texas averaged a paltry 1.8 yards/carry which kept the defense on the field for 97 plays. The D had Skattebo and Leavit pretty bottled up until later in the game when Skattebo wore them down.
