Yesterday’s 11-2 romp by the Longhorns sets up today’s series rubber match with the Rebels at 1 p.m. (SEC Network Plus).

Yesterday was a unique game for me to watch, Jeff, b/c it was all base hits (and bloops, weird plays LOL) with no homers.  I took that as a good sign, wanting the club to be 'balanced' in its hitting, so to speak.

That wind was making me a bit nervous, tho.

I have two tickets listed cheap on SeatGeek for today's game if anyone is interested. Out of town and can't make it. Section 106 Row 3 Seats 11 & 12, one seat from the aisle behind home plate. LMK if interested.

Utermark draws a walk.

The count started with three consecutive balls. I don't understand the lack of a green light on 3-0 pitches. Feast on that meatball!

A 14-pitch first inning for Volantis ends with back-to-back swinging strikeouts.

Texas heads to the plate after a scoreless top of the first.

It’s still crazy that Dylan Volantis is our Sunday starter

I believe Schloss' rationale is you feel good about either salvaging a series (avoiding a sweep), winning it (like to today in a rubber match) or sweeping with Volantis on the mound.

Fawley dropped a pop fly behind the plate off Mendoza's bat. Let's see if Doza takes advantage.

He made Ole Miss pay.

With the wind blowing out to center, Doza doubles off the wall.

Could be one of those kinds of days today.

Tinney clears the monster in center field for the second time this season. His fifth home run of the season is a two-run shot that gives Texas the early lead, 2-0.

Glad we didn’t move Tinney to the 8 hole after a “rough” few weeks

His walk totals suggest he's seeing the ball well. It's not like he's looked lost.

He's too good a hitter to stay down for too long.
