harveycmd Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Good stuff. Story time. I've met three Cowboys in my life: Jimmy Johnson, Jim Jeffcoat and Darren Woodson. When I went to Texas in the early 90s, I lived in Irving during the summers with my brother. I worked in the lumber yard at Payless Cashways at Beltline and Road Island. In June 93 Jimmy came in and walked up to the lumber counter. I was 19 and just stood. He told me he wanted some glass and materials for an aquarium. Few questions. Sold him some stuff and cut some glass for him. Next week, Jeffcoat comes in and buys some plywood. Met Woodson at Hooters in 99 in Addison just after moving back to Texas from New Mexico. Quote
harveycmd Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Of the three, Jimmy was the most memorable. People were just staring at him. No one said a word. They didn't ask him for autographs or anything. I looked at him and said, "What can I do for you?" I don't remember his response other than he wanted aquarium stuff. Quote
harveycmd Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Next year in 94 went to University of Chicago to go to graduate school. Stanley Rosen. Quote
harveycmd Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago My greatest sports memory ever is being at the first game Kobe Bryant ever started on 28 January 1997 at Reunion Arena. I was half way up the bowl, mid court. Remember some guy saying just before the game started that Kobe was overrated. Lakers won of course. Quote

Guy looked at me before he made his stupid statement. Quote
harveycmd Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I had that jersey because Jerry West said that Kobe was best player he'd ever drafted. Jerry said that Kobe would easily be better than Shaq. Quote
