No. 70 has been worn by some outstanding offensive linemen in Texas history.

Scott Appleton headlines the list after winning the 1963 Outland Trophy and helping lead the Longhorns to a national championship. Leonard Davis became a consensus All-American before being selected No. 2 overall in the 2001 NFL Draft. More recently, Christian Jones started 48 games and was a key piece of Texas’ return to the College Football Playoff.

Current No. 70: Kaden Scherer.

I would include John Elliot also, 1964 - 1966. One of the Texas guys who joined Joe Namath in NY to win SBIII.  All 4 Texas Exes have passed now.

John Elliot

George Sauer, Jr.

Jim Hudson

Pete Lammons

Bob Simmons was a pretty good #70!
A 3x first team All-SWC and a two time All-American; drafted in 1976 draft and played seven or eight years in the NFL.

I was actually going to include him but I couldn’t find a good picture. It’s the first time someone has been left off due to that.
