Vann hit 6-6 from 3. Vic had all 5 freshmen playing out there for a chunk of the 4th, and Baylor still had a few of their starters in. They held up well. SEC will be a different ballgame, as they say, but you can see the potential.

Besides the lack of experience behind the 3 Bs, this team is a post player short, in my opinion. I don't think we're going to get any minutes from Hose in any of the big games. They're gonna have to ride or die with Breya, and go small ball with Etute if Breya gets in foul trouble.

No improvement from Hosa? Looks like that scholarship was all for nothing.

Trust Vic

Who are the starters: Breya, Bri, Zaya, Booker and Bjorn?

Looks like its the following:

PG: Bryanna Preston

SG: Zya Vann

SF: Jayda Clark

PF: Madison Booker

😄 Breya Cunningham

This team is a work in progress. The newbies have moments but they are rookies for a reason. I think Clark has a lot of dog in her. She reminds me of Shay Holle. The team refers to Booker too much because obviously she's head and shoulders above everyone, but this is a team sport, and we need great ball movement with better shot selection from other players.  Zaya is a vet, and she can do a lot but she just needs to figure out what Coach expects.

Breya is quicker and is looking to score more! Just needs to be mindful of silly fouls.

Preston was off last night. She needs to be better. Coach Vic will have them better by SEC time.

Absolutely agree. They have a lot of work to do. I think this season depends on 1) how fast the new players get through the learning curve (esp on defense) and 2) will Vic let the offense be more guard driven than post. And perhaps 3) how the new players, especially the freshmen, hold up from a stamina perspective, both during games and across the season.

This team is going to have to play a lot of small ball. Breya is *only* 6'4", and the top teams all have taller players. If Breya gets in foul trouble - and opponents are going to try to get her in foul trouble as fast as they can - then their best option is 6'1" Etute. Hose just isn't going to hold up at all against top teams. I really really really hope I'm wrong there, but what we've seen so far doesn't give me any hope that she can give Breya a break. And Vic is on record saying he needs Breya to be able to play 30+ minutes this year. So, he knows.

Michigan is a veteran team. They don't have a big post player, but they have good shooters, hustle, play a tough zone defense.
