Moderators Blake Munroe Posted 11 hours ago Moderators Posted 11 hours ago Today marks 47 days until kickoff, so the countdown rolls on with a look at some of the best Longhorns to wear No. 47. Andrew Beck | Tight End (2015–18) A true do-it-all tight end, he played in 51 career games with 30 starts, hauling in 40 receptions for 440 yards and four touchdowns while becoming one of Texas’ most dependable blockers and leaders. His senior season earned him First-Team All-Big 12 honors, and he was also named a Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award semifinalist. Mike Lockett | Wide Receiver (1976–77) Lockett was part of one of Darrell Royal’s final great teams. A two-year letterman, he helped Texas capture the 1977 Southwest Conference championship, finish 11-1 and No. 4 nationally, and earn a trip to the 1978 Cotton Bowl with a chance to claim the national championship. Luke Brockermeyer | Linebacker (2018–21) One of the best recent walk-on success stories, Brockermeyer earned a scholarship before becoming a starter in the middle of the Texas defense. He finished his career with 75 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, two interceptions, and received Honorable Mention All-Big 12 recognition in 2021 after recording 62 tackles. He was also a Burlsworth Trophy nominee and a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. Current No. 47: Trey Dubuc (Deep Snapper) Who’s your favorite Longhorn to wear No. 47? Any other names you’d add to the list? 🤘 1 Quote
