Note on Ian Geffrard

The large human over the ball on the Texas defense played anywhere from 385-390 a year ago at Arkansas. And played 424 snaps effectively at that weight, which is impressive. 

He is listed at 375 on the official Texas Longhorns roster. 

A source told OTF Tuesday evening that the big, big, big man continues to hover between 375-380 "depends on if he just ate" 

The goal for Texas is have him hover around 365-370 this season. 

Ian "Geffridge", as Rod Babers nicknamed him, is going to be a key and potentially crucial member of Will Muschamp's defense this season.

Who will they rotate him with? Is it package dependent? I'd assume they'd love to lower his snap count and keep him more productive.

TBD. 

Texas will lower his snap count from a year ago at Arkansas, or that is the plan, so he can maximize his snaps more than last season when Arky had no choice.

He is a monster.  Can't wait to see him in burnt orange.

I saw him last year in an early game I was watching of Arkansas and that is the guy I said most about.  Really not all because of his size but more how immovable he was.  I asked my buddy who is that #95 i believe was his number. He is a HUGE (pun intended) problem in the middle.

Ian Geffrard is exactly what our defense needed. He is our new gravitational field 😀  Arkansas asked him to play way too many snaps because they didn’t have anyone else who could anchor the middle like that, and he still held up. At 365‑370, he’s going to be even more effective here. He’s still going to eat double‑teams for breakfast… and apparently sometimes for lunch, based on the weight updates.

Rotation will sort itself out, but the bottom line is simple: he’s a true space‑eater who makes everyone around him better. Really good pickup, and he’s going to matter a lot this season.

Big dude, big impact, big upgrade.

Good stuff, is there any cause for concern that he hadn’t lost more during spring and summer workouts? Is he reshaping his body and that’s the reason for the weight being where it is?
