Moderators Blake Munroe Posted 4 hours ago Moderators Posted 4 hours ago Texas has landed a really intriguing addition in the portal with Campbell outfielder Carlos Lugo. Lugo put together an outstanding true freshman season in 2026, earning First Team All-CAA and CAA All-Rookie Team honors after hitting .347 with a team-high 77 hits. He started 54 games, posted 25 multi-hit games, drew 32 walks, and put together a 15-game hitting streak during the season. He also earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors four different times. Lugo isn’t just an outfielder, either. He made eight relief appearances on the mound, posting a 3.48 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 10.1 innings and recording his first career save late in the season. Coming out of Calvary Christian Academy in Florida, Lugo hit .494 as a senior with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 17 stolen bases, while finishing in the top 10% of his graduating class academically. With this commitment, Texas adds another proven bat with multiple years of eligibility. Lugo chose Texas over Arkansas, North Carolina and Georgia. 36 Quote

Taylorgang3 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago @Blake Munroe love this! can you go into any specifics of what took so long? Was he weighing his options? Or what was the holdup? 1 Quote
WRNC Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago A natural left-handed pitcher who dials it up to 92 mph on the mound, his arm strength translates beautifully to the outfield. Quote
Moderators Blake Munroe Posted 4 hours ago Author Moderators Posted 4 hours ago Just added this in and the end of the story, as I forgot to put it in… Lugo chose Texas over Arkansas, North Carolina and Georgia. 6 Quote

.45s Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I don't know much about that league, but he had 32 walks to 22 strikeouts and only had 2 multi-strikeout games (and each was just 2 Ks). In the field, he had only 2 errors and was credited with 5 assists. Quote

cmk4pres Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Ok leadoff? I'll give in a shot... Lugo CF Armstrong C Pack LF Arod SS Brennen RF Mendoza 2nd Garcia 3rd Borba 1st sawyer S DH /Autry as well 1 Quote
AZ Longhorn Posted 40 minutes ago Posted 40 minutes ago Four (4!) really intriguing portal OFs to go with Pack: Brennan, Solitaria, Goldenetz, and now Lugo! Interesting: Solitaria is the only RH bat among them. DH likely comes from competition among that group + Autrey @Blake Munroe going into fall practice, who do you think's in pole position for CF? And how would you rank these guys defensively? Obviously there will be a lot to unfold — in both the fall, ultimately in-game production — but it's fun to know where we're starting! Quote
Sell Mortimer Sell Posted 39 minutes ago Posted 39 minutes ago @Blake Munroe being left handed and likely has a good arm (he pitches some) would you project him to right field? Does he have the speed to play center? Quote
