R’Monie Edwards to Tech Prediction

Featured Replies

Sam Spiegelman put in a pick this morning for R’Monie Edwards to TTech. I’m aware how early it is in the ‘28 cycle and that we haven’t really even begun to push for many guys in that class, but it seems like it came out of nowhere considering how much we’re prioritizing him. Did anything happen recently in this recruitment to give this prediction any substance behind it?

Tech seems willing to pay well-over market value when they ID a guy they really want.

Recent examples include transfer edge David Bailey, whose offer was triple what most schools offered, and 5* OT recruit Felix Ojo.  Supposedly Ojo was offered $5.1 million for 3 years even though he will most likely sit and “develop” for 1-2 years, and he was embarrassed by good edge rushers at camps before his senior season.

No idea what the deal is with Edwards but that’s been the recent trend

You know when Gerry joined On Texas Football, ON3 had to hire Steve Wiltfong to replace him???   🤔

I believe he visited Tech for their game vs UH.  There strategy is to come hard with NIL early as most schools don’t get series about NiL until later.   I believe Edwards is from Wichita Falls originally per article last week from OTF.  Thus, Lubbock may not be such a stretch for him.

And Joey has even admitted that they have to "pay more" than other programs just to get players to come to Tech.

Seems weird these tackles come visit and blab about being the number 1 target for Texas over and over and then commit to Tech.

Edwards visits Texas for tOSU game and all the feedback is Texas leads.  Then, Edwards visits Tech for Coog High game and now all the RPMs are for him to go to Tech.

Don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out what happened was offered on the Tech visit that wasn’t on the Texas visit?

And to whom that offer was made (hint: it’s not necessarily the player making the decision here)?

Tech is definitely going to try to take a "decision" out of top kids hands early on.

Texas wants him badly, that I can say. Not sure Texas will get to the point of taking the decision out of junior's hands this early ... that's not a QB

Just wait for Tech to implode as season goes on 👍 hopefully BYU can take them out this year
