Game day rituals

Confession time.

I'm sure I'm not the only superstitious fan out there. Do you have any things you do every longhorn game day, things you "have" to do for the team to win? (It's real)

I always have a shower in the morning of games, razor shave (other days I only use a trimmer if i shave at all), put on a clean longhorn t-shirt (a new one each season, it also has to be washed between games), clean pants, clean socks, clean sneakers. All this has to happen before College Gameday starts at 8 am.

Writing it down feels almost embarrassing, but here we are...

No real rituals for me. I can’t seem to decide which shirt is lucky for me. This year I’ve had trouble getting into a college football groove as I have been traveling back and forth across the country to tend to an ailing parent. I got back in week 2 just in time for the Ohio State game but caught a bug somewhere along the way. 
 

fortunately, I’m feeling a bit better and have an overnight brisket hitting 198 so it’ll be ready to pull soon and go into a holding pattern before the game. I’ll have smoked sausage and cream cheese along with queso and guacamole for the game, too.  If we play well, perhaps this will become my tradition. Hook’em.

I'm not too superstitious but I tend to fill my coffee and football mug with hot coffee first thing in the morning, watch game day and plan out my food situation for the day. If I'm having a few cold ones they always go in my Texas Longhorns Glass.

I also monitor my pee vs the Tom Herman pee chart to ensure I'm not heading for area 51.

Go for a run

Shower, wake up the family, cover us in Texas gear

Go get donuts (same place)

Go get coffee from dunkin (same order) 

Watch GameDay. Get the other Texas items out, get my spot ready (blanket, gameday helmet, etc)

Play some ncaa 26

There is more I do during the game and I know it doesn't matter or make a difference but it does to me! Hook em!

i always will move from spot to spot until texas starts playing well.  lately have OTF watch with us on in background too!  if i wear texas merch at home, it usually doesn't work out, so try to avoid wearing texas clothes unless at game.

I have my Longhorns helmet signed by Ricky and Earl.  I give it a kiss, then put on my 2005 Championship t-shirt, my special UT hat (backwards) and away we go.

We have large stuffed Longhorn who we moved during the start of the third quarter in Ohio State game… the stuffed animal won’t move

Game day only shirt and have a bourbon and coke before kickoff.  And if the game is at DKR, wait to leave until after they play George Strait’s “Texas” which is the last thing they do before they turn off the PA system.

I used to attend the games and have seen over 200 in person. It sounds crazy I know but now I record the game and I don't watch until it's over. These games today make me a nervous wreck. I turn on OTF Watch with Us during the actual game and listen to Craig Way on the radio. I think the Horns have given me blood pressure problems. Sometimes I wish I didn't care so much.
