    I totally agree. I am a huge Sark fan. I think he is fairly honest and authentic, and there’s no denying how much better the state of the program is than when he took over. But the issues that continue to plague this team fall squarely on Sark. The units led by his top two lieutenants he brought from Alabama have grossly underperformed for several years. And I hate to admit it, but it seems that both Quinn and Arch have regressed somewhat the longer they’ve been coached by Sark (and his third lieutenant, Milwee). Finally, I don’t think this offense has a core identity to fall bacK on in critical junctures of games. I’m rooting for Sark to succeed, but he has to perform on the field and get results.

    No real rituals for me. I can’t seem to decide which shirt is lucky for me. This year I’ve had trouble getting into a college football groove as I have been traveling back and forth across the country to tend to an ailing parent. I got back in week 2 just in time for the Ohio State game but caught a bug somewhere along the way. fortunately, I’m feeling a bit better and have an overnight brisket hitting 198 so it’ll be ready to pull soon and go into a holding pattern before the game. I’ll have smoked sausage and cream cheese along with queso and guacamole for the game, too. If we play well, perhaps this will become my tradition. Hook’em.

    Good point. The SEC is demonstrating the authority a conference can exert with the LSU fiasco.

    If they go to 24 teams with no conference championship games, do you think that’s a step toward eliminating conferences as we know them? Perhaps we end up with an nfl-like structure with two large conferences. Another way we get there could be another round of expansion by the SEC & Big 10, essentially cherry picking Notre Dame and a couple of the ACC schools. im not a proponent of this, but I think that’s the direction we are heading.

    I’m late to the party on this one, but for #2 I would need to pick an offensive #2 and a defensive #2. So it’s Eric and Jerry. I know that’s a cop out, but I love my Longhorns too much to decide for #2.

    Like a lot of you, Earl is my sports hero. I was 9 years old for that 1977 season, so I was just getting into sports. His power and physicality defined for me what football should be about. But as much as I loved his game, it was his demeanor that really stood out to me - humble, quiet, respectful, etc. All of that along with his love for his mother and brothers as well as his relationship with people like DKR and Willie elevated him from sports hero to overall personal hero for me. He transcended sports from my perspective. As a lifelong Cowboys fan I actually rooted for the Earlers against the Doomsday Defense. Now this non dipper might put just a pinch between my cheek and gum and go play me some touch. Or maybe I’ll stick with the hot links Thank you, Earl!

    Lawrence Sampleton is the #1 #87 for me also. After retiring, he worked with my mother on a project for a school while I was in high school. Lawrence came over to our house and hung out around our kitchen counter. He was very kind and impressive. He laughed about playing for Dick Vermeil with the Eagles. The first few times Vermeil cried during a motivational speech to the team, Lawrence was really inspired. After a few of those speeches, the players would roll their eyes, thinking "here we go again."

    With the additions of Cam, Raleek and Hollywood to Wingo, I can’t wait to see Arch play with so many weapons that can score from anywhere on the field. I’m hoping Bishop proves he can too. If we can get acceptable play from the OL and the safeties hold up, there’s no reason that we shouldn’t compete for a national championship. Hook’em!

    Maybe not a direct broadcast issue, but for replays could we please go directly to a ref in a booth with multiple monitors rather than wait for a ref about my age to waddle 50 yards across the field to review the replay on a 10 inch screen?
