ClubWhatever Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago We need to stop monkeying around on special teams. Β Is there a doctor in the neighborhood? Quote
Alex Butler Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Cadillac Jameson trying to pimp slap Sark with this bitterness is unbecoming. ST needs attention and focus, absolutely, but is a coach getting fired mid season the solution? No IMO, this list is more a collection of player errors and we donβt truly know whatβs being told/coached in practice or film. I think we all agree th discipline on this team is lacking bit that to me is part coaching but larger part team leadership. What are guys like Arch and Simmons doing to prepare. Are they obsessed with winning and perfecting their craft? Are they pulling others up to that standard? Are you showing youβre willing to do whatever it takes to work n? Every second of it very day? Are you using everything at your disposal to get better? Iβm going to say not to the championship level and the guys on special teams are a reflection of that. We keep waiting for coaching but championships are won on player led teams gotta have more from my player leaders, got to. When you weβre playing ball did you get better because your coach was telling you everything Β or was it because they provided teaching, technique, patience, and time for you to put in the work and show growth and improvement every day?! Did you blame the coaches when you struck out or made an error? I hope not. Did they blame you? Hope not, I hope they held you accountable helped you get through it and learn from it. We need our team leaders do demand excellence like Ed Reed and VY did. Itβs their team and their time. I love you @CJ VogelΒ so buckle up because when this clicks is gonna be a rocket! Β Get off the ledge and come back to the party! 1 Quote
LonghornInOmaha Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Don't forget all the times we've run the kickoffs 5 yards deep out of the end zone.Β Β Add that to the special teams blunders. 1 Quote

I am to the point where the drag of a monotonous offense and lackluster special teams has taken a toll on the belief I had with this team to begin the season. Again, if it ever clicks, the talent will compete with anyone. But that's the question β will it ever click?Β Im afraid itll click once its too late and we are begging for a chance to make the playoffs. There is alot less pressure once the pressure is gone. It seems once we get that number one spot sark doesnt know how to handle being the top dog.Β 1 Quote

Deep in the heart Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 12 hours ago, CJ Vogel said: Or even better: instill some discipline. Special teams is boring. It is not fun. But it is where you truly separate yourself with discipline and which team truly cares about the small details of the game of football. Look at the Alabama dynasty. Look at the Georgia run under Kirby. Look at the Patriots dynasty. Those coaches cared deeply about the world of special teams.Β Texas has had moments β field goal blocks, punt returns, etc. But the list is far too long. That's a lack of discipline. You either coach it, or you allow it. This is exactly the answer but Sark is too busy trying to be OC. He talks about culture but it's hard to do when you can't chew gum and walk at the same time. He needs an OC so he can focus on those types of things. Quote
Paul L Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago @CJ VogelΒ Β I have a question for you about special teams in general. Β How come on punt returns the receiving team never puts the gunners on their a$$ right off the line of scrimmage? Β Iβve never seen a team do this and I know you canβt do it every time because Iβll adjust but if they arenβt expecting it, I think it would be a great way to set up a punt return. Β Is there something I am missing here? Quote
GDI Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 16 hours ago, CJ Vogel said: Sarkisian said he would not reassess his special teams coordinator following the loss to Oklahoma on Saturday. When asked if he would elaborate on that a bit further, this was the answer: "I think history is the best indicator of the future, and and we've been good on special teams for quite some time around here. You know, I have a lot of faith in Coach Banks and his schemes. And I have a lot of faith in our players to get that done. Sometimes you go through lulls like you do on offense or like you do on defense, and I don't question our ability to coach our way out of that β compete our way out of that to get back to the standard of which we play special teams." That was the thing that annoyed me more than anything about post game comments, Β press conference Β and all the rest.Β Special teams should at the very worst not hurt you. Β There is opportunity to gain from special teams but you should not lose ground in a game. If special teams don't gain from plays Β during a game the coach should say we need to work on special teams. Β I mean we lost the game because of special teams and the head coache"s answer is sometimes you go through lulls in a season. Β Sark says he is here to win championships, Β I guess we just have to wait until we don't have lulls in a season. It doesn't sound like the head coach is to worried about it.Β Quote

If Texas made the playoffs I think they'd have been a tough matchup for a lot of playoff teams but it clicked too far into the season and was too little too late. I thought the issues from last year would have been taken care of but the stubborn attitude of the coaching staff hasn't fixed things the way I had believed they would. It's the same troubles and issues as the beginning of last season. Not enough quick game with too many long developing route concepts while neglecting the run. 1 Quote

Califashorn75 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago One thing I noticed during telecasts is that no one from our team is ever angry. We don't seem to have any fire breathers holding dudes in check. They seem like a bunch of nice guys who don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Maybe those culture Wednesdays are having an opposite affect. I don't think VY, B-Rob, or Rak tolerated losing. And I am sure they let it be known.Β Quote
