Bobby Burton Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 That's big. Expect restructuring for the Horns in player personnel. 4 Quote

Shane Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 So far Sark has been fantastic at replacing people that have left. I would think that’ll continue here. 3 Quote

Shawn Strayhorn Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 (edited) Seems with all the added eval and recruitment these days and added retention efforts from NIL. How can front office/scouting departments not be the next big area for teams to fill out with as robust a staff as possible. Edited February 1, 2024 by Shawn Strayhorn 2 Quote
closetojumping Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 Some folks are already painting this as a positive for Texas. I'm pretty surprised by that, given everything I've heard about what Glasscock has helped enable over the past recruiting & transfer cycle. 3 Quote

Texas does not have the position of GM at the moment. It was a rather recent adoption for most programs with it. 2 Quote

Billy Glasscock did a tremendous job at Texas. From organization to evaluation/bringing guys to the coaches, etc... was so well-rounded in his role. 5 Quote

I wonder if Sark takes a broader look at the organization and decides that a GM is an inevitable step. Perhaps it is time to use this misfortune and make larger changes 3 Quote

Jared Blank is the Texas Football Chief of Staff is the closest position to being Associate AD for Football. Edited February 1, 2024 by GoHorns1 3 Quote

It's good info, but he's not really involved with the things that are fundamental to what we'd like to see in a GM role. NIL + roster management, personnel evaluations, etc. Regardless of how all of this ultimately gets spun, this was a surprise move. There was some important stuff being worked with Glasscock lately. Like, really lately, and now he's thrown a smokebomb and disappeared. 1 Quote

Thank him for his time, hard work, development of a recruiting department and wish good luck at Ole Miss. 1 Quote
Shawn Strayhorn Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 any chance this has a ripple effect?? meaning Glasscock possibly has a few people follow him over as he defines a new department?? Is that even a worry? How valuable is the "scouting dept" or is that more of a first line of defense and real looks and decisions being made by coaches? 2 Quote
Robert Gilbert Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 I have heard people (from several websites and YouTube channels) mention Glasscock as being a key piece of Texas recruiting for three years. However, given Sark’s ability to replace on field coaches with better ones, I fully believe he will hit a home run with Glasscock’s replacement. 2 Quote
TexasLonghorns Posted February 1, 2024 Author Posted February 1, 2024 Any chance Sark goes after Oregons Marshall Malchow? Would be a home run hire as a GM imo 3 Quote
Bobby Burton Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 I don’t think Sark is going in that direction. 1 Quote
Hashtag Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 There are a lot of guys who are no longer employed by Alabama that are very good at their jobs. 1 Quote
