Out coached

Recommended Posts

I'm more interested in: 1) why the run game stuffed, 2) If ASU overplaying the run then why minimal successful targets to Bond and Wingo (although a nice catch in OT), 3) have we stopped any special teams trick plays?.

Defense was amazing considering how long they were on the field.

I have a bit of a different take. Yes, we didn't play well, at all for a large portion of this game. But I don't think the ASU RB was that great for the 1st half, because we just got after it and sort of punched him in the mouth. Then we let them hang around too long and he got his team fired up. I will say, he is one tough s.o.b and really put his team in a position to win it.

But we also handed it to them, because we let them stay in the game. Sark has zero killer instict. He's "all gas no brakes" and yet he's pulling the handbrake and slamming his foot on the brakes every game. He also is very stubborn and even when something isn't working, he will continue to go to it.

This is 3 games in a row, where it should've been a complete blow out and we barely scrape by and let the other team hang around. Hell maybe even more games than that.

Now, in saying all that, glad we won and we'll have our hands full with Ohio State next week.

That's about all that needs to be said. Completely out coached no clue what to do on offense. And any quarterback on campus or recruit could  outperform Quinn

28 football minutes between offensive touchdowns. AGAIN!! So sick of this half game offensive lapses. Q’s average AT BEST And sark is a fraud.

We let them hang around because our defense was worn the hell out. Our offense is horrible for  at least a half a game. For every game.

I don’t get people like you.    When we can’t run the ball, we are very one dimensional.  We averaged 1.8 yards per carry.  I am not sure a coach can just start calling new run plays.  Quinn was great today.  He drove the team down for two FG attempts in the fourth quarter.  He checked into the TD on 4-13.  He threw a beautiful pass to Helms, then to Golden again.

Let me give you a Texas history lesson.  In 1969 at Fayetteville, Texas turned the ball over 6 times, they were losing 0-14 at the start of the fourth quarter.  Texas was beat until James Street made two plays.  Just two.  If he didn’t make those plays, he would have been just another good Texas QB.  Quinn made the plays when he had to.  That 4-13 TD pass ranks up there with Young’s run, Streets 2 plays, and James Brown 4th  pass against Nebraska.  I would include the TDs Earl made against Arkansas and OU in 77.  You should be applauding Quinn tonight and file it away in Texas lore.

We couldn't run the football a lot in 2009 but Colt took over games.

ASU did their job, controlled the clock wear down the defense then Cam started going. Before that ASU couldn't do nothing. They we're patient. Most of y'all aren't especially with Ewers.  Without Ewers we would be here. We rely on a run game but it isn't the greatest. ASU knew that. During the game is was just as frustrated as y'all. But looking back. Ewers was 66% for 300+ yards. ASU followed what Georgia did.

This win was ugly but the offense counted when needed and so did a gassed defense in OT with Makuba. The one thing that should have been better would have been using Helms better in the passing game. What also surprised me was lack of perimeter screens with the box loaded.

You know what you’d be saying if the roles were exactly reversed?

You’d be complaining about all of points and field position that the HC left on the board going for it on 4th down.

Since when is leaving points on the board and losing a game in OT an example of “out coaching” the opponent? Because never in Texas’ history has that been an argument our fans have made

Oh I know, I'm just saying is all. The problem is, we couldn't afford to let our D get worn down like that with a workhorse like that at RB for ASU. Sark is always talking about complimentary football, yet he never lives up to that, in the majority of his games.

I'm happy for the boys and that they got the win. But when you've got a team on the ropes, you gotta put them away. Look at what Ohio State is doing to Oregon and to Tenn. That is how you put teams away. So far we've struggled to do that with Clemson and now ASU. No one can convince me that ASU was this good, that we needed OT to beat them.

Sark and Quinn are 25-4 in their last 29 games.  Not sure how long you've been a fan, but if it's at least 10 years, stfu.

The last 10 years have nothing to do with this year. We have a literal championship caliber defense that is being held back by an offense that was inept for 90-95% of that game. We will need the offense to play four full quarters each of the next potential two games. It really annoys me that people keep coping with this kind of statement and not realizing to win a title we're going to need more. DID YOU WATCH OHIO STATE TODAY?

Send CDC your resume, I'm sure he will be enamored with your critique and experience on a fan message board and immediately fire Sark and hire you on the spot...SMFH

Texas can win every game in a season and win a championship and some would still whine like a little girl with a skinned knee.

But we haven’t because one side of the ball doesn’t play high enough level consistently to achieve that. See our 3rd quarter woes. As competition increases those woes are going to catch up and cost us.

Fine, but it isn’t changing this time of the season and the bellyaching falls on deaf ears.

Texas hasn’t seen this sort of success in years and some look like it’s not worth enjoying.  Not saying you are not enjoying the wins.

He was also the reason we were in that situation

Besides that interception what did he do wrong? Did he miss two field goals after he drove them into FG range? Did he fumble in the endzone? Did he run into the punter? Did he create the 5 false starts? Did he get the defensive PI or holding calls? Face mask calls?

or did he throw a 4th and 13 to win the game? Did he throw an amazing pass to Helm after escaping the pocket in OT? Did he have another amazing throw for the long TD? Did he run it into the end zone on a long scramble?

20-30 for 3 TD’s 322 yards. Oh and the longest active streak in FBS for TD’s in a game.

you’re gonna blame Arch for everything next year too; right?

He was god awful and missed multiple throws after first drive until 5 minutes remaining. That isn’t championship caliber.

The we aren’t winning a title, plain and simple. That’s just the reality. A lot of us have seen what championship winning teams look like and unfortunately because of our offense this ain’t it.
