I was at that game. Roy Williams thrashed the Tigers. Also notable, that game was - actually played in the Cotton Bowl 🤷♂️ Edited January 5 by horns96 6 Quote
Realist Horn Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I thought this was going to be about Danika McKeller turning 50. 1 Quote

I went to the 1970 Cotton Bowl as a high school junior and I graduated from UT in 1976 and 1978. So I qualify for being both old and an alum. I've been to four Longhorns Cotton Bowl games...none at Jerry World. I'm sentimental about it and wish the game was still at the old stadium. I think the Texas-Nebraska ( the Huskers were in the Big 8 conference then) and the Houston -Notre Dame Cotton Bowls were played in unusually cold weather and those games laid the groundwork for the game to be played at Jerry World decades later. Burnt Orange Horn Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Texas vs. Tennessee in 1969 was very cold but clear. Dumb poles with the PA speakers at field level was rather tacky. Quote
Jbro52 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I already feel old lol, I was 15 and a sophomore in High School when Texas played USC in the National Championship game lol Quote
Bevo72 Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I'm really old. I was a JR at UT when we beat Notre Dame in the Cotton bowl. Did you know that was the first bowl game the Irish played. Quote

Steamboat Willie Posted January 9 Posted January 9 It was a cold day in Dallas when Roy Williams destroyed LSU. He was absolutely unstoppable. 1 Quote

Then they decided to accept the 1970 Cotton Bowl invitation against #1 ranked Texas. 1 Quote
