Fox Sports Ranks QE3 As Sixth Best QB In 2025 Draft

The five before him:

1. Shedeur Sanders
2. Cam Ward
3. Jalen Milroe
4. Kyle McCord
5. Jaxson Dart

6. Quinn Ewers, Texas (6-2, 210)

Experience: 36 starts (22 years old)
Prospect grade: 2nd-3rd Round
Best-case comp: Brock Purdy

Questions about the offense he ran won't plague Ewers in the buildup to the draft; it'll be concerns about his size and durability. The slim-shouldered Ewers, who missed seven games over his three years in Austin, doesn't look the part of a prototypical NFL quarterback. Neither does Brock Purdy, and yet that's who Ewers — at his best — reminds me of.

Both are quick decision-makers who distribute the ball all over the field, making up for a lack of RPMs with anticipation and accuracy and a willingness to attack tight windows down the seams. Both are often characterized as "sneaky athletic," a begrudging acknowledgment of their ability to navigate a collapsing pocket and squirt free for 10 yards on a third-and-8.

Ewers threw four interceptions in Texas' three postseason games before heading to the draft and leaving the Longhorns' mantle to Arch Manning rather than transferring and earning millions in NIL money. What teams think of that decision could very well determine where Ewers lands on Day 2.

if ya can’t feel or escape the rush,  or throw the deep ball this is fair.   He is like a slightly less athletic Dak prescott.   so 3rd to 5th round is fair.   glad the kid got his money in college and set himself up.  he brought us back to relevance, he just never was elite or durable

In reality, Quinn Ewers should have just finished his redshirt sophomore year.   If I told you he was a redshirt junior next season, I think most would have an entirely different opinion of Quinn.   Throw in that he skipped his senior year of HS ball, I think he’s great value as a draft pick due to his lack of experience.   I hope he goes to a successful franchise with a proven current quarterback.

We shall see and certainly an easy narrative. The dude a winner with top flight skills he stays healthy and tacks on another 10 pounds he’ll be just fine

I hope QE does well but I think he will be a back up at best, possibly getting starts off and on.  Colt got in 14 years.  Being a backup QB is one of the best jobs in the NFL, actually one of the best jobs anywhere, because the longer you can stay the better the money is and you have far fewer injuries than being a starter.

You probably would have said Tom Brady would be a back up . Give the young man his due .

I have nothing against Quinn and think he has been good at UT.  I think he has been one of the better QBs at UT.  Maybe, I might have thought the same thing about Brady but it is a good thing I said "I think" about Quine instead of "I know".  If I had slept in a Holiday Inn Express last night I still would have said "I think".
