Texas the Clear Favorite...

Recommended Posts

From a source in Tucson, I am told that Texas is the "clear favorite" to land Tiaoalii Savea , the 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle transfer from Arizona. Savea visited Texas over the weekend and has a very strong bond with Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen, who joined the Longhorn staff from Arizona this off-season.

Savea is expected to be a mid-term enrollee. All mid-term enrollees at Texas must enroll by Jan. 30 at the very latest.

Texas has already added seven players from the NCAA's transfer portal. Besides Savea, Texas also continues to recruit Washington cornerback Jabbar Muhammad. Muhammad visited Texas with his parents on Wednesday and Thursday and visited Alabama over the weekend. He is expected to return to Washington to collect his belongings this week and visit Oregon while in the Pacific Northwest.

Loving the new site, Bobby. Thanks for doing this.

Just my two cents, but it would be ideal to add Savea and one more DT, either after Harbaugh leaves for the NFL or in the Spring.

Muhammad would be huge, no two ways about it. The more bodies the better in the secondary. Not sure I buy the "clear path to starting" stuff. J. Muhammad and M. Muhammad would be the clear starters, no?

1. Agree with you on the DL. They're looking for fits. And this Arizona DL is the only one in the portal currently that has been greenlit.

2. With Muhammad, I don't know exactly how they're looking at it. They rotated a lot of players on D and in the secondary this year. They're probably thinking about doing the same thing again next year.

Bobby -

You guys have been mentioning the Texas class add/drop deadline a bunch.  Would Texas not take a player if he committed after the deadline to add/drop at all? Or, if the player were important enough, would they allow him to enroll for the summer?  Wondering how that would play out if Harbaugh left Michigan and some of their players entered the portal after the deadline?

Congrats on the new site!

Yes. They would allow that and recruit them with the knowledge of it.

With Michigan players, they are already enrolled for this semester and on scholarship. So they would likely be summer enrollees unless Harbaugh did something immediate.

Do you think Harbaugh is dragging his feet to stay past the final 2024 signing day?  Or, would he need to take the NFL job ASAP to prepare for the draft?  Or, maybe his "dream" NFL job isn't open..............yet.
