EDGE Barryn Sorrell with some praise for DL coach Kenny Baker:

"Coach Baker, man, it was a blessing to meet him this last year. We definitely hit it off from the second we met each other. He is big on development, so I am very thankful to learn from him just from the year that I was there. He is a great coach and I learned a lot from him in just a year, so I am looking forward to what he can do with the guys back at Texas."

I will never understand being stupid enough to play a right tackle that was hobbled and getting beat all game over a healthy trevor goosby

Gunnar Helm was the lowest rated position player in the 2021 Texas recruiting class, ranked behind guys like Cole Lourd, Max Merril, Casey Cain and Charles Wright.

Nevertheless he set TE records at Texas and is now projected to go in the third round of the 2025 draft.  A testament to his sticking it out while playing behind 2021 classmate JT Sanders, and a testament to player development under Jeff Banks.  Great to see him being rewarded now.

(# 4 lowest ranked non-specialist recruit in that 2021 class?  Barryn Sorrell, also invited to the combine and a likely pick in the draft)

TE Gunnar Helm on being labeled more a receiving TE during his time at Texas:

“I would say that maybe I am labeled more of a wide receiver right now. Going back to my film and my first three years at Texas, I played a lot of college football at a very high level. I played in a very high powered, high-level, high-IQ offense for a long time and I’d like to say I know that offense like the back of my hand.

I think my versatility and my IQ sets me apart a little bit. I like to think I can go into a building and vibe very well with guys. I’d like to think I was a part of a class that changed the culture and changed the dynamic in the locker room, alongside guys like Jake Majors, Hayden Conner and Quinn Ewers. We learned from guys like Roschon Johnson and Bijan Robinson, Moro Ojomo, DeMarvion Overshown, guys like that. They left the program in pretty good hands.”

Gunnar Helm was awesome today. He stuck around to shake the hands of a few Longhorn media members that made the trip and hung around his scrum. Great program guy and will be a tremendous pro.

"He is a players coach, he builds relationships with everybody in his room. He is a great coach, he gets you prepared and mentally he is always there for you. He is going to have them boys ready to go at Texas."

– Robert Longerbeam on Orphey.

Longerbeam added Orphey coaches his CBs to fight through the hands and be sticky in coverage.

There were some very good evaluations the previous regime made in the 2021 cycle.

TE Gunnar Helm on Arch Manning:

"To be honest with you, I think he is going to live up to the hype, absolutely. Arch is one of my good buddies off the field. His whole life has been football. So, when he has a chance to really open up off the field, he turns a lot of peoples' heads. He is not what a lot of people expect him to be, he is very open.

On the field I know he has really fallen into that leadership role, as he has needed to be. I know a lot of guys are really pulling for him."

Thursday Combine update:

DB Andrew Mukuba says he will do most of his on-field work at the Texas Pro Day March 26.

TE Gunnar Helm says he will participate in "mostly everything" Friday afternoon.

CB Jahdae Barron says he will participate in his Combine Drills Friday. "Most definitely, I'm getting after it."

Jahdae Barron was a spectacular listen this afternoon and I think the NFL world is beginning to realize just how insightful he is. I would put him up with any one player in the Draft for having the best mental makeup here in Indianapolis.

Quick look at the Combine Meeting tracker for Texas participants.

This is not the full, official list for each player, just what each Longhorn made public in their time with the media.

Do you happen to recall who asked him that question?
