So far they're playing more like it's the first game of the season and not the regionals, just not sharp in the early going defensively and that poor slide by Mendoza in the bottom of the first.

A sacrifice bunt by Dutka puts a runner in scoring position with one out. Payne comes to the plate with Roper on second.

Walker was throwing strikes. Not sure why you want a bullpen game in Game 1 when pitching could be a premium if you drop a game.

Saunier strikes out Payne and gets Walker to ground out to second to get out of the inning. The free pass doesn't come back to bite Texas.

I agree, I know that Schloss wants them to see/work the pitcher, but typically you're almost always going to see a first pitch get me over fastball against this lineup because the opponents know we're taking. Most times when the count starts 1-0 it's because the pitcher missed.

The hit-and-run call allowed Jonah to avoid a double play. It's a groundout to short by Mendoza, scoring Gasparino and giving the Longhorns their first run of the regional.
