My One-Line Take on Each SEC Team in 2025

We are 50 days away from the season beginning and the takes are only beginning. Some of my current stances on SEC programs ahead of the start of the season. 

Tried to keep everything in one sentence for a quick take at each school.

ALABAMA: DeBoer is the 2nd best coach in the SEC, Bama will bounce back with a QB who can throw now.

ARKANSAS: Bowl eligibility would be a total gift.

AUBURN: Another 7 loss season loading.

FLORIDA: I believe in Lagway, if and only if, he is 100% healthy. Very underrated trench play.

GEORGIA: Not a believer in the quarterback. I could see three regular season losses in 2025.

KENTUCKY: Basketball starts Oct. 24.

LSU: Brian Kelly has severely underperformed, but can Nuss carry the load this fall? We’ll see

MSST: The best home slate of any team in the country. Maybe steal a game? Doubtful.

MIZZOU: Middle of the road team. 7–5.

OLE MISS: a soft program despite talent. Simmons will surprise

OU: Big fan of Mateer - he is heartbeat of the team. Team will go as far as the OL in a hot seat year for Venables.

SCAR: Repeat of 2024, miss CFP by 2-3 spot.

TENN: Every thing is in place to be a talented team, except the QB position. Just run the ball.

TEXAS: Enough talent to be a CFB team regardless if Arch lives up to hype or not.

TEXAS A&M: Should be a top-10 defense every year. I don’t buy the QB, and believe the fit at OC is holding back.

VANDY: a 2nd bowl eligible season in a row would be a huge W

6. Beamer
7. Elko
8. Kelly
9. Drinkwitz

12. Stoops
13. Freeze
14. Lebby
15. Venables
16. Pittman

What do you think?

Notes: Venables is essentially no longer a head coach. Elko could rise in the future. Kelly has been mediocre. Lebby is unproven with a subpar roster. Kiffin could be on the decline. Pittman is gone next year.

They should be very fun this year, again, if Lagway is healthy.

I couldn't decide which road game to take this year and eventually went w/ Ohio State, but Florida was my next choice. Should be a fun game.

One of those L’s Sark took vs DeBoer has a big asterisk imo with Bijan and RoJo both sitting out.

Also, Sark arguably outcoached DeBoer in the Sugar Bowl. No reason Texas should have been remotely close to winning that game. Young backs fumbling and Quinn’s lack of clutch cost us that one.

I’d be willing to bet Auburn overperforms and Bama underperforms these expectations. 
 

Jalen Milroe was an absolute cheat code with the QB run, especially in the RZ. IMO, Bama’s QB this year will need to be a Top 10 QB in the country with his arm to make up what they’re losing with Milroe gone. I don’t personally see that happening. They will also likely take more sacks this year.

Don't forget Penix went nuclear in that game as well. That was the only matchup that they could have drawn to keep them from getting a natty. They would have dog walked Michigan.

Ehh, let's see how he does without Penix and a stacked team of veterans. He didn't exactly cover himself in glory last year.
