Raistlin Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I was listening to Rod B’s podcast this morning and came away optimistic that our redzone problems are fixed for 2025. Each of the problems Rod identified from the last couple of years have been corrected. 1. OL not “bullies” - Majors and Connor replaced with better run blockers in Umeozulu and Hutson. 2. RBs not inside runners - Instead of Wisner and Blue in the redzone, we have Baxter, Gibson, Clark and Simon. We will be running more gap scheme and inside zone as opposed to outside zone which Wisner and Blue were better at. While we had Gibson last year (and he was our best redzone runner), he was a true freshman who hadn’t figured out ball security. Hopefully, that has changed with a year of seasoning. Sark has been great in the redzone with the proper RB. 3. QB undersized and not mobile - Arch definitely cures that. Arch had an 80% redzone TD rate in 2024. He is big enough to sneak the ball and mobile enough where the defense must account for him in the run/scramble game. 4. Sideshow Burt - while we want TDs, our kicker won’t miss chip shots. 5. Turnovers - remember the aTm game where two TOs in the redzone changed the complexion of the game? This one is to be determined, but I don’t see Arch fumbling on slides or making lazy throws to the perimeter. 9 Quote

Dread-headed Texan Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago He's right the RZ offense will be very good. We won't be running tosses and sweeps at the 2 yard line. We won't be banging our head against a brick wall trying to block 7/8 with 6 while praying undersized backs can push the pile. Don't take my word for it watch the tape. I dare you to find me any 2 3/4 games where Texas had as much success as Texas did with Arch. I'll wait. That's not me bashing Quinn, but the truth is he was limited. Go watch how different the play calls were. 1 Quote

Arch… when you break the huddle, more straight up or “honest” looks at pre-snap. 2 Quote

His next rd zone score came on a 19 yard pass to Moore. With Arch the playbook is wide open. Anyone who has watched Texas these last couple of years knew what was coming inside the 20 and even more so inside the 10. We got used to seeing inside run, inside run, slant, and rbs in the flat or screens. In the limited time with Arch we saw qb sneaks, slot fades, and everything in between. 2 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 5 hours ago Moderators Posted 5 hours ago My thoughts entering camp is that the OL holds serve from a year ago. I need to see it first with Hutson and Umeozulu before I instantly peg them to be upgrades. 2 Quote

If the 2025 OL “holds serve”, the run run blocking will still be better; it is the pass blocking communication that may suffer. Quote
