Camp is a zero sum game. A dominant DL may also indicate the OL is having issues

The OL is fantastic. It’s definitely a sign the DL is going to be very good, like the past 25 years

Still, 1-1 is the same win %. Small sample size- tOSU doesn't commonly play strong OOC competition during the regular season, home or away.

Ohio State typically plays very strong OOC opponents, 1 every year. Texas, Georgia, and Alabama on the horizon. Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Miami, TCU, Virginia Tech, Texas, Washington, Washington State (when they were Top 10), in the recent past.

It’s not about Ohio Stadium, it’s about a new QB and a new OL on the road.

That is why I wanted to come here and give my opinions. Same goes for Texas by the way. I learned that the Texas offensive line isn’t nearly as inexperienced as I thought they were.

My prediction is 31-17 Ohio State. I’ve been wrong plenty FYI, and will probably be wrong here too lol

There's just no chance a win margin like that happens. Just none. We are far too talented and you're fielding a QB who doesn't know what it feels like to get hit by a high major lineman yet.

With all do respect, it is baffling to me that you don’t think there is no chance for a win margin like that. People said the same before Tennessee, Oregon, and Texas last season. It’s college football, we have no clue. One thing we do know is that Arch struggled mightily when he took hits by high major lineman. Hell Ohio State knocked him out.

Lol that semi final was a fully competitive game for all 4 quarters, and our front was getting home more and more often in the second half. I wouldn't bundle that with what occurred against Tennessee and Oregon. Again, we are far too talented for that.

You over rate you defensive line and Sayin will not put up 31 on his first start vs by all accounts so far… a very strong defense. Let’s see if Hartline $hits down his leg…

Yeah, all I said was a score prediction. I didn’t mention at all how the teams would get there.

The defensive line isn’t overrated lol, if anything the national media is underestimating the defensive line.

Also, if Hartline struggled then Ryan Day would just take over lol.

Also, nowhere did I say that Julian Sayin would put up 31 points.

I’m much more concerned about Matt Patricia. If he struggles, there is no coach to take over.

I wonder if Arch’s touches last year were also with training wheels. Sark was never going to leave him in; the goal was to not lose until Quinn got taped up and shoved back out there.

Texas might lose. But I’d imagine Arch is going to have a more wide open playbook than anybody outside of team/staff have seen.

Yeah they are. You lost the whole DL and Ohio st is super thin on the interior. And that’s a good idea! Just let your HC take over play calling mid game.

We've recruited as well as anybody over the last 5 years so it only stands to reason that your friendly Buckeye visitors think we have a stacked roster.....we do. So do you! Here's my take much similar to my fellow Buckeye...

Oline: very good/excellent depth

QB: talented, but young and inexperienced

RB: above average/very good

WR: elite

TE: elite

DL: very good/experience limited

LB: Very good to Elite

Corner: very good

Safety: Elite - any unit with Caleb Downs leading is gonna be elite

Kicking Game: Average at best

I don't expect a repeat, but if the DL is serviceable and the young QB grows into the postion throughout the season, I know we'll be a handful by the end of the year wouldn't be surprised by a strong run.

It's a pick em game in Columbus, I see both rosters stacked and pretty much equal. I think the home field is a massive advantage for us facing a young QB with new OL

Big 10 is top heavy as always, I fully expect Ohio St to be in the playoffs as it’s almost hard to miss the playoffs with the talent level on your team and the shallowness of the Big 10. Maybe the easiest bet in the nation.

I think Sayin limits your ceiling year one but makes you the favorite next season

We consider Ryan Day as being right there with Sark as the best play callers in the sport.

You can think whatever you want, but I am trying to educate you so you aren’t surprised on 8/30. Much like Texas, Ohio State doesn’t have “overrated” defensive lines. They are always elite recruits coached by an elite coaching staff.

Will all do respect, I think the middle of the B1G is also better than the middle of the SEC.

So much so that he gave up play calling duties to finally get him over the hump? I’m just telling you the drop off at RB, DL, and QB will be the difference. The best position group Ohio st has will be negated by the Texas DL pressure on a young QB in his first game. He will be trying to watch  Forrest Gump on 5x speed and then trying to write an essay on the plot. His head is going to be spinning

I wouldn't call it "typical" if it's four ranked P5 teams at home over the span of 13 years. Texas played Ohio State in regular season OOC 20 years ago- not the recent past. I will grant that they are starting to play more in the future. Though y'all's OOC schedule last year was weak.

Ohio State plays @12, vs 2, and @ 14 in conference.

Non-ranked teams that are perennial bowl teams on the schedule

@ Washington
vs Minnesota
@Wisconsin

Texas plays in conference @ 15, vs 18, and @ 5.

Non ranked teams that are perennial bowl teams

None

Honestly, Texas’ schedule is pretty weak compared to Ohio States

Do me a favor and count how many current current Big10 teams have won championships in the last 30 years. Do the same with current SEC teams and get back to me.

Yeah, last season was a one off, was originally Washington.

It is nice to see Texas finally scheduling like Ohio State though. It wasn’t too long ago Maryland was Texas’ marquee OOC.

The SEC dominated the past, no doubt about that.

I guess we’ll see something when Michigan plays Oklahoma.

I’m not sure anybody but OSU, PSU, and Oregon are beating LSU/Ole Miss/Florida/South Carolina/etc.

really, you don’t think Illinois can beat South Carolina? Or USC can beat LSU or Texas A&M? Interesting

Who do you consider “the middle”?

Outside of OSU/PSU/Oregon, who do you think is really good?

No. I don’t believe Michigan would beat Alabama (anything can happen, but we’re talking on average expectations).
