He's not wrong. Offense has been the weaker unit of offense and defense in the Sark tenure outside of year 1. For being such an offensive genius and playcaller we have not fielded a single top 10 offense

I can't stand A&M or Liucci, but he cooked with this take imo.  Where are the 40+ ppg offenses we saw from him as the OC at Alabama?  Based on the concerns about not having any touchdown makers on this offense, that won't change this season and probably next season unless they find guys like that in the portal.  Gotta see how the offense looks after Red River and go from there, but most likely, the red zone and short yardage issues will continue.  Maybe he starts taking the 3 points if we're lucky.

Putting aggy in that group is the joke.  We will score much more than that on them this year.  They gave up 24 to UTSA or to them ASTU.  Typical free rent in Loser Lucci's head.

Arch had guys open  and passes to be made. Ryan Day basically did the same thing with Julian Sayin. Each of those games Sark had plays and put his team in position, at some point players make plays.

Sark has one weakness and we all know it- goal line.

I think his issue right now is he’s not trusting our backs enough to run power. I do think we’re more capable of it this year than we were last year. We need to line up under center with two fullback/TEs in the backfield and see what C4 can get us. Or run play action out of that. We have that Cowboy back coach, let’s freaking use him.

C4 got us from the 3 yd line to the 1 yd line. Sark didn’t trust him from the 1 yd line to the EZ. I would have much rather seen C4 try for it with some lead blockers and get stuffed rather than that pathetic QB sneak

I really don’t think “Texas fans” are piling on Arch NEARLY as much as the outside world. It truly is insane and illogical. The build up tear down cycle that Gerry has mentioned is in full effect.

Never mind that Arch did pretty much just as well as any QB that faced Ohio State last year.

He had ugly passes, yes. He also did have some spectacular plays. And he didn’t mess up so much that we were completely out of the game.

Idiots out there are acting like this was the worst showing ever while simultaneously glorifying Ohio State’s defense. There is no logic to the sports entertainment business these days. Hating on athletes is the ultimate money maker, unfortunately.

Lauding one team or player only gets you an audience with that team or player’s fans. Hating on a team or player gets you an audience with the fans of the other 120+ teams.

It is year 5, Sark has his guys. He has elite talent, he has an elite defense, he has to coach better on offense, particularly in the red zone in games against elite teams. Simple as that.

That said, I am not going to use the first game of this season as an example against the other games he used. We were MUCH more experienced last year across the board, so Georgia x2 and Ohio State last year are different categories to me. But they still make his point.

To me, we need to see where this offense is as the season progresses before I hold yesterday against him.

If the players change, and the results stay the same … you have the issue you really don’t want to discuss

He may need to realize he's not as decent as he thinks he is at it.

I didn’t like the 1st half gameplan as much as the 2nd half. With that said, the opening play should have been a 20 plus yard play and Arch grounded it.

There were throws that were there and Manning simply didn’t make the correct read or couldn’t complete the throw.

Sark has to bear some of the responsibility but players have to make plays.

I think everyone thought Manning had a higher floor than that. Apparently he doesn’t and the climb will be steeper than anticipated.

To be clear, everyone hopes Sark gets over the hump in the biggest games and in the red zone

But he’s got to do it

He has had 4+ years.  You’re right he needs more creativity in the red zone/short yardage situations.  But like you said players change but issues remain.  Maybe his next special assistant hire should be to help with this issue.

We have actually statistically regressed in red zone offense and our overall offense has pretty much been stagnant around the 15-20 range outside of the 1st year he was here. Conversely our defense has improved every year.

We had two possessions in the 3rd Q. The first, we had a 70 yd drive that stalled at the 1 yard line. The second, Arch pretty immediately threw an INT. The 3rd and 4th quarters were our best quarters on Saturday. Bad 3rd or 4th quarter playcalling hasn’t been an issue so far this year. The first half was for sure not great, but we were going against a defense literally no one had seen before, so there’s a caveat there. Then again, hard to say the play calling wasn’t great in the first half when Arch was badly missing open guys.

Goal line and short yardage are basically the same issue, and yes, clearly it’s an issue.

Guess you’re just going to gloss over 4 years of poor 3rd quarters?

A and M will always look for the negative. Flush it. If we looked great and lost a heartbreaker would still be 0-1. Sometimes its beneficial to be rightfully put in place. The measure of a champion is the response. Go Texas and Texas 8-4 will always be silly when Texas has a lapse.
