Longhorns are International

Visiting  Valletta, Malta today and pop into a restaurant as it starts to rain for some lunch. Waiter, who I learn is Bulgarian, approaches me and asks if I am Italian and I reply no, I am from the US.

He asks where in the US. I reply Texas.

He shoots me a Horns Up. He said a group of Texans were in a week ago and he said they taught him this is how all Texans say hello.

I told a Longhorn friend of mine about this.  He said that he and his wife are going to Italy and that he will teach the Italians how Texans say hello.  🤣

I learned long ago the worst thing that could happen in Italy would be two Texas fans meeting and getting their horns up. 🤣

I travel globally a LOT, and there is no university that has anything close to Texas in international reach and awareness.
In the US, there are several big brands in college football, but outside of the US - mostly just Texas.
You see more Texas gear, more horns up, more burnt orange and it isn't even really close. In fact, I'm almost shocked when I see ANY other college school gear on travel, but I'm also shocked if I DON'T see horns fans - locals, ex-pats, and travelers.

I was in Munich for Octoberfest and the only college hat I saw was a longhorn, who was in my hotel
