Jerry K Posted Monday at 01:13 PM Posted Monday at 01:13 PM @Blake Munroe heard any news on this? Crazy to even think this could happen but if so it could obviously open up a lot of talented players to the portal. Could the Horns benefit? I'm thinking they are already maxed out on scholarships. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46641299/tennessee-vitello-favorite-land-giants-job Quote
Inspired73 Posted Monday at 04:30 PM Posted Monday at 04:30 PM There was a fun discussion on MLB yesterday about this possibility. Turns out that Alex Avila played at Tenn......not this coach...... The issue, of course, is will MLB players listen to a college guy. There have been college guys that make the move. I tend to think that at the professional level, the boss makes suggestions....not demands. We will see. Then Again: Will Devers listen to anyone? we all no the answer...... 1 Quote

jkates Posted Monday at 04:53 PM Posted Monday at 04:53 PM The smoke is real. I don't know if Vitello will end up in SFG or not. His run at Tennessee has been spectacular, but many college coaches are starting to feel like they are coaching pro teams. Might as well go coach a pro team. 1 Quote

Not sure his current demeanor would translate at that level. I’m sure he knows that though. Quote

I haven't been a Giants fan since the Willies' left. But I think major league managers are too timid when it comes to addressing how players play the game. MLB players today simply do not execute the fundamentals at a high level. I wonder is a college guy, adding fundamentals to the daily routine, would improve the quality of play. I actually stopped watching the Astros because they were so fundamentally unsound. Quote

This is why I don’t watch much MLB until this time of year because they really don’t try half the time. It’s just not fun to watch for me. I think he would struggle with communication/motivation. Big difference between college players (who are, at some level getting better paid) but not millionaires for the most part and a whole team of self entitled millionaires. But again he’s a smart guy and knows this going in. If this happens he will have a lot of eyes on him seeing how it goes. Quote
Moderators Blake Munroe Posted yesterday at 11:13 AM Moderators Posted yesterday at 11:13 AM He’s obviously very torn on what to do or we would have seen a decision one way or another. I don’t know which way this will go. Tennessee fans are a bunch of nut jobs (see Vol Twitter), I know that much. 1 Quote

I believe Kendall has said players wouldn’t be eligible this season but who the hell knows if the ncaa would block a waiver. 1 Quote
