RT should have his bags packed..
817 Boxing B replied to 817 Boxing B's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Well.. Chavez is going to command it..wherever she decides to go. Now... understand, the men's basketball ball coach, knowing RT is getting the axe and assuming we're getting a big name, is going to highlight that commitment to her and require an equal effort on the men's side. -

Well...being a UT lifer counts for something when it comes to discounts... and I won't go into the opportunity conundrum when it comes to particular coaches, but I'm sure RT understood it wouldn't last long but the visibility and opportunity would set him up after it was cooked. -

3 million to coach Texas... top guys are making around 10 and up. Let's you know what they thought of him and those last 2 years were for show. Year 3 right now.. and it's curtains. -

Band aid... and the players that played under him damn near threatened a mutiny if he didn't get the job. Go back and watch those Big 12 champ week pressers and the tournament pressers on that run. It was RT this and that and he's the catch for this team. -
Htf not? Who would go to the portal? Cj and Christian are hurt. Tre is the #1 and ain't built like that. Simon is going to get clock as a freshman and Rickey knows he's headed for a redshirt... with possible carries in the non con schedule that's soft. I don't get the fear! If Jerrick leaves... having been here all this time, so be it. He hasn't had an Adrian Peterson like freshman campaign.
-
If Jerrick Gibson jumped in the portal at this point, what do we really lose? If he runs from competing...already having been here, we don't need him on the 40.. and that goes for any other kid. Tre isn't built like that... Clark and Baxter are hurt and Simons' a beast and Ricky knows he needs to redshirt and get bigger and stronger. Soooooooooooooooo......π€·πΏββοΈ

Spring ball has to play out so we can see what RB's become available. Any guy they take has to be a needle mover and durable. We can't do like we did last year and get a guy who's talent level isn't SEC level and isn't durable. We need a guy who has snaps and can be counted on for snaps when the bullets start flying.π€πΏ
-
I didn't say that. I believe there is something to having played the game at a high level, but other than that, I believe if you're choosing or selecting the talent alone, sex shouldn't disqualify them. I'd rather listen to Mina Kimes break down football than 85% of the people that do it that HAVEN'T played in college or the league... and that's any sport. Of course networks have to account for the male dominated audience that will be watching, but you also must consider there is a major percentage of your watchers that are women. For goodness sakes, women have a large part in producing the talent on the field, because they bore them. Are you threatened by the possibility of a woman actually being able to do the job well?

How many years did RT get son his deal? Tell me... quick. Then ask yourself... if he's recruiting your kid, do you wanna send him to that coach, knowing he got hired on an interim basis with a 2 or 3 year deal? How long does it take for guys to finish their eligibility and how does that affect any one and done guy? Does it affect the NIL commitment from that university and Board of Regents....? Of course you wanna make money, but if he's successful and you arm him with the proper tools, then you're in a rock and a hard place tryna fire him and get the guy you REALLY want because of the results he's attained. Just food for thought...π€·πΏββοΈπ«‘π€πΏ -
Hoops: Texas at Arkansas Game Thread
817 Boxing B replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Too many chiefs, not enough Indians...story of this season. Easy to see that they all have 1 on 1 game but have no feel or timing for each other as a team. Pope never should've been the starter at pg. He's the 6th man. Kaluma and Sheddrick are soft as baby π© inside and Tre is a liability on defense. He doesn't move his feet on defense well enough to challenge shots with the wingspan and size that he has. Tremon Mark has no pace control and this team sorely misses Kendall Weaver. Nobody but a young Devin Pryor or Jason Kent does the dirty work and play with smart aggression and effort like he did last season, this season. RT has a bunch of nice pzzle pieces that don't fit. -
Probably this comment. Tell your wife we said hi and we hope she finds a way out.

My cousin Al Dillard wasn't so bad off that bench, either. I always thought he was a better shooter than my favorite player, Scottie T. -

RT... pick somewhere nice and warm and don't even sit down with CDC. When he walks in.. walk right past him with your stuff in that brown box and don't look back. The band-aid stickum (this fan base and university) is gone. This is what you get for being there for someone when they need you. π€πΏ -
It's tough watching the men's basketball team struggle to come together, but what's even worse os to hear the trashing of RT and his staff by this fan base. RT never had the support of CDC or the Board of Regents. Remember the Elite 8 squad at multiple press conferences throughout that season after Beard got in trouble advocating for RT heavily. The players loved him, but the guys that make things go never did, and only offered him the job as a band-aid for Beard and not to lose the team, plus it was mid-season, and they couldn't ignore the success of that squad, even though Beard still got all the credit after his dismissal. Ron Holland going to the draft was the death nail for RT... but ask yourself, why did he? Was there a large enough commitment from the university? Seems like BYU figured it out for Dybasanta. We figured it out for Justus Terry. You mean to tell me that we were the first ones to notice Kaluma and Sheddrick just weren't going to be enough for this SEC season? So yeah, fire RT.... blah blah blah. Hurry up and get this season done and prostitute the university and it's cache for a known name this this arrogant and pompous fan base will believe in with no restraint, and that the Borad of Regents and CDC feel like is worthy of ponying up and joining the big boys when it comes to NIL/recruiting in this era. RT.... you were fired the day you started. When they come knocking, be ready to walk past them and hop on that plane to somewhere tropical. You're a Longhorn lifer and a man of service, even in the face of certain failure. You deserved more. π€πΏπ«‘

A&M is the jealous stepbrother that we beat up on but OU is from the other side of the tracks. OU represents pure hatred and the colors are disgusting. It's OU over everyone... if we go 1-11... that one has to be BlowU.

Vic Schaefer Visits Aaliyah Chavez
817 Boxing B replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
She is amazing..and a hard worker. Her pops is no nonsense and the family is top notch. Hopefully she can see the value in Austin and the culture of Vic's team is enough to pull her out of Lubbock. Seeing her stick with her team when she could've transferred and hearing her talk about her community shows how much she loves being in Lubbock. Tech sucks though..and everything would be on her shoulders there. In Austin, she's a major piece to an already put together puzzle. -
So... basically Arch..π€£

Bobby brought up a great question in the last drop from the OTF gang. Who is our offensive playmaker in 2025? Who is that guy that scares the π© out of opposing teams? Who's the gameplan going to be built towards being taken away? Who is public enemy #1 when you take on the Longhorns offense this season? The easy answer is Arch, but will someone else emerge like Xavier Worthy did in 2022? Circumstances would suggest that someone will have to step into that role, and join Arch as being the guy or one of those guys, for Texas to achieve what we all want... a Natty. Let's get to it OTFF.. drop your thoughts below.π€πΏπ«‘π₯

Johntay Cook needs some major help
817 Boxing B replied to Drunk randoke's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Now... what's plausible? They got in an argument after his card declined... or he went in there to rob the smoke shop? Regardless, he's lost his way. This, as embarrassing as it may be, needs to be rock bottom for him. We've all seen the Arik Gilbert story, and I don't wanna see Johntay repeat it. The best thing for Johntay would be for no one to talk about him for a while. Go home... get some help, and go to work. Find a way back to the football field somewhere and lock in. I pray he gets it together. Regrets will destroy guys like him... my best friend is a prime example. He's 46 now.. and just got over how he let his opportunities slip through his fingers.π€πΏ -
Johntay Cook needs some major help
817 Boxing B replied to Drunk randoke's topic in On Texas Football Forum
"Hope he gets help... but IDGAF about what happens to him......." WOW.... if there was ever a " can't have it both ways" situation, this is it. So the "theft" is for $100-$750... have you seen his Instagram? Definitely not struggling.. so there's more to it than what you read. Anyhow.... let's hope he gets his life together and just leave it at that. This is the type of stuff that happens when you're young, and it's typical of people, especially in today's climate, to only care about the people they care about. Sad for Johntay... but even worse for us older adults acting worse than children. -
I might be done as a Mavs fan
817 Boxing B replied to TooBrokeToPayAttention21's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Iverson was and is a Hall of Famer and the best scorer ever under 6'. He was such a "terrible" leader that he took Aaron McKie, Eric Snow, Dikembe Mutombo and freaking Larry Hughes to the NBA finals and got a game off the 15-0 Lakers in game 1. AI carried Philly for multiple seasons and was ostracized and ridiculed for not making white folks feel comfy and safe. I agree with you on Luka and Iverson resting on their laurels when it comes to work vs natural talent, but your excoriation of Iverson's character is overblown and misguided. -

Damn...can we get cheese to go with that wine? I bet I know who you voted for...π€£π€¦πΏββοΈ. Now there's an issue with oligarchs? So you think the NBA is ok with moving the team out of one of the top 3 media markets and missing all the money from the metroplex to move to Vegas...? Makes sense because they have a bigger fan base or Metropolitan area, right? -

Exactly!!! One of the best comments I've seen on the trade. Dirk brought us the only π in our history, and he wasn't able to influence Luka. If you can't seem to get in shape and play defense from 19-25... I guess you will once I give you 350 M's....? -

Which under 25 player fits the Mavs right now and helps them win a chip, that doesn't clash with the current roster? Remember you have a veteran head coach who won a chip as a coach and a player and is a hall of famer. Think he wants to try n teach some young kid how to play n waste Kyrie? So.. if you have to go with a vet... get a top 10 one.. in a spot you need help the most at. If you couldn't get Giannis... then this is the next best thing.
