Hoops: Texas vs Texas A&M Game Thread
rocketman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
What exactly does that mean? When fans hate winning what does that say they are? -
Wow!!! haven't heard that before? Having a board for people who never played basketball is a waste. It is just too much to bare.
-
No, mostly I'm sick of hearing you and others like you listen to something you have heard or read elsewhere and then parroting the exact same thing while pissing down your leg in a condition of utter terror with no real understand of what a really big time player is. Ranking players in the portal is a fools errand so no one really knows who are the best players? Lots of players have signed with teams out of the portal however what makes one better than the other? Without extended evaluation there is no way to differentiate whose "big time" other a name you might see. Not enough time.
-
Man I get sick of listening to people say ignorant stuff like this!!! Repeat after me...portal is still open!!! Scared ass fans who freak out every time something doesn't happen the way they want makes me scataboo sick! One thing for sure! Bobby and Gerry earn their money listening to melt down maniacs who piss down their leg when we don't get a player. Longest season in Texas football history leaves me no patience for reading this stuff on every thread.. Ok now I have vented about an underwhelming poster. 13 and 2... game 16 on countdown .

Texas Women's Tennis Loses A Big Signee

Been around college tennis a lot of my life and this is the occupational hazard of signing players who really take off after they sign with you. Just wish them well and start looking for another player. -
Alabama is not enjoying life post Saban discount
rocketman replied to Hashtag's topic in On Texas Football Forum
History is replete with examples of successors to Iconic coaches in many sports. However, none is more of an example than Alabama. Paul "Bear" Bryant and Nick Saban stand alone at the top in college football. That said, the Tide went out after the Bear and never returned to a similar beach till NS came rolling in. Now the cycle shifts. No discounts!!! They will either step up or get caught in the RipTide!! Welcome to the football landscape in 2024. Get your surfboard waxed, the swells can push you the crest of the wave or take you out to sea!!! -
For any Texas HS Football fans -- Duncanville loses...
rocketman replied to rocks's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Interesting watching North Crowley run left almost every play in the 4th quarter behind Turntine who certainly looks the part. Must get is usually overstated! However, not this time.- 17 replies

Quinn Ewers in the red zone vs. Georgia Saturday
rocketman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
It's tough to admit but Georgia's talent level on defence is better than what Texas has on offence. At the point of attack in the run game especially, they are not only better they are more physical. With that being said, we were only a play away from winning the SEC championship anyway! However to answer your question about QE..I hope so. -
Well , I guess that takes care of that. Mack said he will be back and UNC fired him. He will not be back.
-
JK, my guess is that you must be highly effective and profitable to your company enough so that they want you to keep you around as a productive employee. If you have watched NC play this year they look very similar to some MB's final teams. Allowing James Madison hang 60 on you is grounds for termination I would think.
-
Have you ever asked yourself why there are no tangible reminders stationed around DKR honouring or paying tribute to MB or his achievements after all these years? No statue or recognition ? No special lifetime achievement awards? Many speculate that the way he went out at Texas disqualified him in the eyes of those who make those decisions. One failure of thin skinned and insecure people is the hubris that keeps them from making a respectable exit from the limelight when the time become obvious. Those at North Carolina now know what Texas has known for a while. The public Mack we all recognise is not someone people want to remember with a statue.

I love the caption obvious take Shane!!! Sounds like fear to me!! Nope it smells like fear!! Do you really think no one has said this or thought this? Please think before you post. Maybe try something more thought provoking! How old are you by the way? -
Just curious what the board thinks about aggy vs lsu last night. LSU was dominating defensively before aggy switched qb to run zone read which as we know worked well. The question is did LSU not prepare for zone read possibility at all thinking aggy would not run it due to staying with CW or do they just not have the defensive talent to match up? Reed's season has not proven he is ready to be a complete qb or he would have started. Thoughts?

Ok let's review.... The Longhorns are 7-1 on the season with a bye week ahead and four games to go. How about season high and low lights. - Beat #10 Michigan comfortably in the Big House in a game that was over before the MU band played Hail to the Victors at the half. - Beat everyone else at home by big numbers while experiencing our QB1's annual injury that takes him out of action. QB2 steps in and gets it done. - Gave OU a beat down 34-3. That was fun!! Made Bobby happy as well as the rest of us. - Lose at home to a motivated and very talented Georgia team in a game most thought we would lose before the season. IMO, the dogs still have best material in college football and can make you look silly. - Immediately go on the road to play an upstart Vandy team who defeated #1 Alabama weeks earlier and won a game despite having way to many self inflicted wounds. - As a side note, Texas was ranked #1 in the polls longer than any other UT team since 1977. That was a great year. I was a junior, Earl was great and what a defence. - Just like Rod said last night on the post game show we are complaining from the deck of a yacht. Coaches get paid to fix stuff and I believe Sark is the man to do it. Does that guarantee winning? No , but if you want to be in the game you're going to have some warts and you're going to need to fix stuff as you go. In addition, I get it and tend to agree with Gerry. Quinn needs to keep improving. Regardless, of what has been said, I believe his recovery from injury has been slow and has held him back. Which happens to be the same as a year ago in the TCU game. He needs to get well. The SEC schedule is not for the weak , playing on the road is loaded with landmines. Finally, I really enjoy this site. I get it that everyone wants to say what they think about the players, games and teams we will play. Fear causes a few people to say some irrational stuff sometimes. As for me, I'm going to enjoy the cruise on the yacht. The view from the deck is beautiful even thought the sea can get pretty choppy and the ride a little rough. Hook'Em

Texas Tennis Picks Up ‘Five-Star’ Commitment
rocketman replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Good player with potential. Junior tennis rankings reveal more insight to difference making ability. -
Same for me Gerry! We would come to the pit at Conroe High during the summer and play pick up games for hours. Always a big crowd and if you got on the right team and kept winning you kept playin! Make it -take it to 10. Wow, what memories in the early 70s.
-
always remember that the secondary market through the portal thrives because of positive relationships built during primary recruiting. Even if DS isn't interested in Texas right now due to commitment to OSU that doesn't mean that he might not be very interested if he gets home sick. Just sayin.

OTF Premium Sarkisian in Houston area Friday
rocketman replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Crazy to be reading about a prospect from Conroe. It has been a while since the coach at The University of Texas came to town for a game. When DKR landed in the parking lot in 1973 to make the rounds the whole world stopped. I was there. It was a big deal 50 years ago. We lived for a while at the apts out the north endzone across Longmire road. The things we remember. -
You just didn't want to wear your gooders anymore for the show! Actually, being #1 is great for recruiting and the overall optics. However, making the playoffs is the target as a high seed. Lots of opportunity to come.
