  1. Just read this a few minutes ago. Trev Alberts reminds me a lot of Steve Patterson in how he does business. When SP was AD at Texas he told both the men's and women's tennis coaches that there was no money to build and replace the recently demolished facilities. Both teams would have to play at alternative venues and raise the money to replace it. Truth was the money was already set aside to build a new facility. As history records, Steve didn't last long. Construction on the tennis center just over the left field wall from DF Field began soon after he exited. One thing for sure, if you don't trust and respect your boss you will be looking for an exit strategy. Texas came open and JS walked out the door. As for Trev, the clock is ticking.
  2. Indeed it was GJ!!! Good memory!
  3. Someone ask Kendall if he still keeps up with the former high school DB recruit who when asked his position on the field said..." I play destructive back".
  4. And to me Bobby, I guess sometimes I forget . I sat in the cotton bowl second weekend in Oct 1977 and watched Texas and Ou literally fight it out vicious play after vicious play. Earl Campbell had 130 of the toughest yards he ever gained. Johnnie Johnson and Brad Shear stopped Thomas Lott on 4th down inside the 10. Three plays later Russell Erxlaben punted the ball 65 yards out of our end zone with the wind at his back and Texas won 13-6. It was a beautiful day and I was 20 years old. Man I remember the moment like yesterday. Regardless, its the greatest rivalry game in football.
  5. I like Tony B , always have. Has to play to his base, yeah I get it. However, I have serious doubt he has ever been to a Texas/Ou game. People who go to The Cotton Bowl on the second Saturday in October for the first time don't come out the same. Their is no comparison.
  6. Don't really see CDC standing pat with Texas going into the SEC. He knows what he has and might already have a plan. If you are currently a coach at Texas you better be winning at a high level. And most of the sports have been. NIL is a big ingredient for SEC baseball teams. Hard to generate dollars with a coach who is not well thought of.
  7. Blake, do you believe NCAA tournament performance could be the deciding factor in DP keeping his job? Is it just me or does he just seem like a bad fit at Texas? Spoke to a baseball guy recently who indicated that toxicity within a program is directly related to assistant coach retention. Thoughts?
  8. Two great teams that have been neck and neck in the rankings. Tough to have a freshman on court for the final team match. Braswell broke back in the third set to make it 4-3 but gave the break back to go down 5-3 and tcu guy served it out. Texas #1 singles hardly ever loses but lost in three sets after winning the first. Just not much difference at that level. David Roditi's first championship outdoors. The difference was the doubles and TCU has very good doubles. Great year for The Horns, but this will sting for a bit.
  9. Just signed up. Couldn't seem to find the place to put in the discount code so I just paid the 59.95.
  10. Gerry , watching Marquette vs Colorado gave me a thought considering your use of the word "embarrassing" concerning the disappointing performance last night. Embarrassing reminds me of Chris Jackson of Georgetown melting down when passing the ball to James Worthy of North Carolina in 83 title game. Or Chris Webber calling time out when Michigan didn't have any vs same NC team. Or closer to home, the loss to Abilene Christian in NCAA tournament that ushered Shaka out at Texas. Shaka just won to go to the Sweet 16. Does his stay at Texas mean he was an embarrassing coach at the helm of our team? We lost a lot of games like last night. My conclusion, is when you choose to repeatedly call out TH arn't you really just blaming RT for having him out there? TH made most of us crazy this season. Why do you think he left him out there might be a better question?
  11. Not sure that's a place Gerry wants to go.
