  1. Dumb foul by Kent. To the free throw line.
  2. Good defense but like the aggressiveness.
  3. He should be as physical with Missouri as he was with the trainer checking on him.
  4. They had some really good ball movement in the first half against OU. It’s been a struggle since.
  5. An actual base offense? Most teams do not run the typical base offense anymore. Texas runs a very basic offense. It’s allowing more freedom to each player. They are trying to run a position less offense. Not saying that’s the offense they should be running but that’s what they run. The base offense I grew up playing (Princeton offense) is not really run by most college teams anymore. Texas iso ball starts to struggle, because they can’t finish at the rim. Kaluma is the best at finishing at the rim, but he’s the only one. Mark tries to do it, but not consistently. The floor is typically spread when running isolation plays. If it ends with a jump shot there really isn’t anyone under the rim to rebound. That’s why they want the guards coming to the rim to rebound. Unfortunately they are not doing that. Weaver does it and he isn’t playing right now.
  6. Another thing to keep in mind is Barnes run came before NIL.
  7. Do they? Do they want to up the NIL to keep up with Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky or Arkansas? Their NIL budget has to give a coach at least a fighting chance to win the SEC championship.
  8. What you say at the end is my biggest issue. I don’t want Texas to be satisfied with just getting to the tournament or even winning a game. I can only speak for myself and that is not enough for me. As a season ticket holder I want more than that.
  9. I defer a lot to the players being responsible for what happens on the court. At some point a coach, should be held responsible for executing the game plan. Typically when a coach takes over any sport I have no problem with the coach saying the players are not executing the game plan. You want your guys in there. Terry has his guys in there. Yes he wanted other players and told no, but when you take the job you are responsible. When I see the same mistakes over and over it tells me the players can’t do what the coach is asking or won’t do what the coach is asking. Neither scenario is good.
  10. Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes! When Ivey got the team to the Olympics they did not have an indoor court in Sudan. Yes nowhere.
  11. I am at where Bobby is at. Making the tournament is most likely going to save his job. I am not saying it should. I am saying that’s the reality of Texas basketball. Which goes back to what we fans want the basketball program to be. I want Texas in the final four every ten years or so. I would settle for some sweet sixteens and elite eights. I want to be exited to watch a team because I believe that team may be the one that wins it all. I don’t think Texas and those that control NIL want the same thing, or they honestly don’t know what it takes to get there.
  12. If I was on the selection committee I would leave the conference out of the playoff for stupidity.
  13. Just don’t get him started on his dunking claim.
  14. I know he averaged 15 points a game, but I am quite sure there was a game when Abe said “Congratulations you scored one more point than a dead man!”
  15. All basketball fans should check that out. I remember him well. Hard not to remember him.
  16. Ivey has been out there for a while. The lack of knowing the coaches in Texas is usually the argument against it. He played at the school, played and coached in the NBA. Most players want to be in the NBA. I do think there would be more support as well. TJ and KD would be all in for sure. Would need assistance with deep Texas recruiting ties.
  17. He doesn’t have Toppin. I do agree all coaches are responsible for what we see on the court.
  18. Yeah he is. But my response about the post was to explain why certain people with questionable past won’t be considered because of Beard. I am watching games and then coming to my own conclusions. Honestly I don’t really pay any attention to Beard unless somebody brings him up. Don’t really follow Barnes or Smart either. I focus on the current Texas coach.
  19. I am supporting a coach and team. Will do the same if another coach comes in. To answer what you highlighted I don’t think in the NIL world and the SEC conference it’s possible to win at a level I want. I would like to get to a final four, elite eight and some sweet sixteens. So yeah I want a lot. I don’t think Texas will ever send enough money to compete with bluebloods of basketball no matter the coach. I would like Texas to look a lot like Alabama. I agree on poor roster construction. They have no point guard and no center. Texas had a center but wouldn’t match Texas Tech price. How’s that RT’s fault or any coaches fault for that? They have no identity? I agree with that. How do you build a culture when players can leave on a yearly basis? Players don’t even have to go to college, they can go overseas. You can declare after one year, which is different from football and baseball. My defense of RT would be the same no matter the coach. I don’t know how you can field a top ten team on four or four and a half million. Particularly when other schools in the SEC can offer more. Would love to be wrong. I want Texas to win. Don’t care if I am right or wrong. Appreciate the response to my questions.
  20. You’re missing the fact that Beard was arrested for domestic violence and CDC asked for his resignation that day. I think all Bierce is saying is CDC will be super concerned about blemishes on a new coaches past. That can’t happen twice.
  21. I answered your questions so I have a couple for you. What are your thoughts on the program? And how do you fix whatever problems exist? What I think a lot of us miss is that looking to the past really doesn’t help. The big reason is that NIL did not exist back then. Finding a coach that can do more with less was doable pre NIL and pre portal. Can that work now? Keep in mind there is going to be a roster turnover every year. Further Texas is on a budget( See Toppin). And it’s hard to create a culture when you have a revolving door on players. To make it even harder you can go pro after one year or skip college all together and play overseas. So we can’t use football as a model.
  22. Pay Toppin and there is no front court problem. Completely agree on point guards.
