  1. Even football has level and they will always come first. Texas pays in football but is typically not the highest offer. I can see Swain coming back because of his relationship ship with Coach Miller, but turn down first round money? Louisville got the Xavier guard at two million last year if I am remembering correctly. And the prices keep going up. Say you pay a shooting guard with length two million plus. You still have to pay Matas, Swain and Goosby. Once you do that you still need a power forward that can face the basket. Need a veteran guard that preferably gets into the lane and make shots. Man it’s sounding like we may need Wilcher and ughhhgg Heide to come back at reduced prices. So hard to build a team these days.
  2. First they have to hold on to Matas. That takes a loud out of the NIL. Gerry can correct me on this but I believe Texas paid 1.5 million for Goosby, so those two already take up a big chunk of money. Finding that guy at that price isn’t as easy as you think, especially since every school is looking for players.
  3. Okay so build with, for example, Duru . He comes on strong during a year where he isn’t costing too much and pairing him with somebody that cost a lot.
  4. No I was basically saying there wasn’t a pay increase. They one year left and maybe Texas felt it was better to not increase their NIL but leave it the same. Going into the portal would have cost a lot more. In other words in saved money. That’s all I was saying.
  5. Man baseball is back. Potential to win championships in every sport but men’s basketball. Wish my dad hadn’t said “you will love Coach Lemons”. Been a diehard fan since then.
  6. You lost me on Pope and Mark not being free. If they somehow got more NIL based on last year then we are worse off financially than I thought.
  7. The tournament was always the expectation for me. What they do is irrelevant for me.
  8. You would know better, but I don’t see him coming back. He certainly has things he needs to work on. He is young for his class but if he is a first round pick then you have to either get a discount or come close to the money. What good is developing players like Matas only to watch them leave? Hopefully player coach relationships will matter. It’s not like football where they essentially lowered the players on the team to raise money. The guys at the end of this bench are not making money. Texas needs a combo guard that can shoot the ball, likely a small forward, without question a power forward that can face the basket and then a bench. Don’t understand why they bring in a coach to build a program but not give him the money to do that. Catching lightning in a bottle is not something program builders say. To me that’s asking him to do something without the tools to do it. Coach Miller wants to get that elite eight monkey off his back and that doesn’t fit with lightning in a bottle. What Miller needs and what CDC thinks he needs are not in line with each other. When does Miller say enough? We can’t just watch them lose every year to Kentucky, Arkansas and say well what do you expect? Texas doesn’t have that kind of money. Coach Miller makes fans actually want to watch his teams play. Maybe the underestimated just how good he is. Just my opinion. Somebody else will have to chop something off this time. I need my one hand.
  9. This is what pisses me off. How do you just decide to not play defense? Let me know so I won’t watch. Cultural has to change and guys need to go, including some that Miller brought to the team.
  10. Coach Miller said defensive limitations last night. He’s right they have been limited all year. You can’t fix their limitations. The team was better defensively last year. However, given their numbers defensively this year, most top 100 teams would have looked better last year. Looked at some games previous games again. They are slow getting around screens. Most of the switches defensively are very slow. So some of it is laziness and some of it is they just don’t want to do it. Heide can’t guard a chair. If you watch whoever he is guarding, they either score or get fouled by him. Codie doesn’t use his peripheral vision at all. Matas struggles passing out of the post. Swain has a lot of issues defensively as well. Pope shot so much because nobody else would. Mark missed so many opportunities to score early in overtime. They just didn’t look right from the start of the game. How do you get blown out one night and do this the next game? They just have too many positions where they are limited. The players that do most of the scoring often struggle defensively which would explain being 9-9.
  11. That’s Miller trying to find a way to get that into his players heads.
  12. It’s always a sign when somebody is bored or wants attention when they say this. It happens every year. In the last six complete season Jordan played with the Bulls it ended with championships. I have Kobe over LeBron.
  13. Imagine what he can do with a year of scouting players and a slightly above average NIL.
  14. Missing him badly. I am just going to assume he’s done. I will be pleasantly surprised if he plays.
  15. He’s right both were fouls. The second one doesn’t get called most of the time.
  16. Game could not have started worse, but the team held it together.
  17. Outside of Heide I think we got everyone involved. This team is very unpredictable but the game plan was masterful. Swain only had eleven points. Texas still won and pulled away around the two minute mark. Codie did his best, Weaver was Weaver, Wilcher had a very orthodox three go down.
  18. I kept telling myself Miller will not let them lose three in a row. Trouble with beating OU is that it will come after four straight losses.
  19. Mark had a masterful game. They could have been destroyed when Swain and Matas picked up two fouls. Awesome job by Coach Miller navigating through that. Pope hit some big shots. Matas did a really good job of not fouling.
  20. Good job getting through the half.
