First of all I am not crying over anything. You seem to think Kadin is going to come back developed. Why do you seem to care so much about his minutes. Get the best player, who cares about his minutes. He’s an oft injured center. Onyema? Who cares about these guys minutes? You think if Hawkins wanted to come here for 700,000, the team would care about Kadin’s minutes? Hell no.

Kentucky center is visiting K State.

Arkansas has double their NIL. Can they pay for Hawkins? Brazelle(Nebraska currently leades in NIL)? Kentucky and Alabama have higher NILs too. All three teams can go after Hawkins. You know what is even more impressive to me? Baylor and Alabama each got two top prospects that turned down schools offering more. So not only are they getting players with a higher NIL. They are also getting players for less. Texas has a very competitive roster as is. My point is that if a new coach were to come, they would raise their NIL. No coach would come if they didn’t. So don’t ask RT to compete with less money. CDC said he wants to be number one in all sports. Why put all your efforts into Garrison and Toppin because they weren’t about the money, only to find out they are? I think Texas has the guards to compete with those three teams. They don’t have the forwards/centers to compete with those schools. I am still hoping for a big surprise player but if it doesn’t happen, I will be attending the games like always. I am a fan forever. Just find it incredibly frustrating right now.

Watched a podcast on another site. One guy said it wasn’t that Texas didn’t have the money. They didn’t think he was worth it. The other guy said the agent indicated it wasn’t the money but something they kind of expected that Texas didn’t do. In other words “who knows”

However Texas is expected to beat the teams they end up signing with. How can RT be expected to win against teams with higher NILs consistently?

Problem is the bigs coming out now, Texas can’t afford. Hawkins agent already said if you don’t have two million then don’t call. Alabama is stacked as is Arkansas. I couldn’t care less about Tech and TCU. We don’t play them every year. You want to play Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee with Kadin, Kent and Onyema? That’s where losing Toppin hurts.

Glad they are doing it. Some of the best to ever play did play against teams from negro leagues. I think there may be some embellishment on MLB as well. What’s fascinating to me is how to know the age of the players. Satchell was rumored to be in his late fifties when he finally go to MLB.

I would imagine lots of people would be saying it if it was true. I would believe it if Bobby and Gerry said that was the case. He’s reacting to Toppin IMO.

This makes more sense. Womack is on X saying Texas basketball NIL has issues, but he won’t go into it. You answered the question though. It was a is he worth it? If a first rounder decided to come back the price would be different.

Me too. It stings because it’s a quality player that could have helped at two spots. Just hoping for the best at this point.

I apologize for the foolish remark below. It’s warranted criticism and I am fine with it. When I made that statement I was under the impression Texas wanted to be elite. I now feel they want to be competitive with the chance of being elite. I don’t feel foolish though. I have a better understanding of what Texas actually wants to be in basketball.

Was never expecting Toppin to up his price to beyond all sensible reality. The kid I was referring to went to TCU. I acknowledged I was wrong on that. I had him taking up a significant portion of money. Tech actually has money for one more. This kid wanted more than Tre. Tre will be drafted higher so that ended it. Texas was expecting the 700,000.00 range. I should have expected this was a possibility when the other kid broke the bank in UTAH. That being said I was wrong. As for foolishness maybe look at yourself on that one.

Even if he is ready it’s high school to college basketball. It could take a year for him to get to that level. Or he could be PJ Tucker. He just came in ready.

Getting Luka to play defense has been good to see. He is becoming a complete player. His offensive production has always been there.
