  1. I don’t keep thinking Texas spent little. NIL is around 4 to 4.5.
  2. @Gerry Hamilton since it’s not happening I will chop off a foot for Hawkins. Maybe a toe for Brazille.
  3. RT is having to prove he can make Texas a name like Alabama. The budget given isn’t comparable until they see this year. If he does something special then the NIL goes up. If he is just average then the money either stays the same or increases on the condition that the following year he gets very deep in the tournament.
  4. Completely realize it. It was just an example. And players still gravitate towards him. My point was had he been hired, the amount of Texas NIL would have increased. It would have been part of what he demanded before he signed.
  5. If y’all have another get together for members please make Gerry wear it. I will demand he take a picture with me.
  6. If they don’t have the money, I would imagine they have to convince somebody to take less. Baylor and Alabama convinced a few. Baylor won a national championship and Alabama is red hot right now though. Texas program is trending up but not there yet in my opinion.
  7. That’s essentially what I thought last night. If Texas was looking for a new coach like Calapari I am certain the NIL goes up. With Terry seems like along with most fans, Texas is waiting out this year.
  8. That sucks. I just don’t think it’s enough. Maybe they are out of money. I am confused as to what Texas actually wants to be basketball wise. I thought they wanted to be like Alabama. I guess they want to be competitive with the possibility of being great. Still have my season tickets though.
  9. He said at the Sec meetings he wanted to go high school first and then hit the portal. Not sure if he meant five stars or program players. He wanted to focus on Texas. It’s full of basketball talent every year.
  10. Sounds like a late bloomer. Much better basketball ahead of him.
  11. Have no problem with that. However, if you have a chance to land somebody who could get you to the final four, how do you walk away from that? I would hope they would pay for that. Not saying Toppin is that guy.
  12. I know. I was a lowly assistant for a nice coach at the time. TAAP schools do have talent.
  13. I like it. Obviously he has to get stronger. Just don’t want a guy transferring out next year. Want to see a kid develop.
  14. I my have my TAAP schools wrong but didn’t Jarret Allen come out of there?
  15. There asking that because of the two million the other guy got. I think Brazile fits fine on the team. I am assuming there are attitudes issue. Some people have suggested Texas is making a play for Hawkins. Not anyone that really has any inside knowledge on what Texas is doing. So I am not going to even think it’s a possibility at this point.
  16. RaeQuan Battle at West Virginia had to go to court last year for a second transfer. Court sided with him. NCAA knows it was going to be taken out of their hands anyway.
  17. Worried about basketball and baseball as well.
  18. Sampson and Barnes get those guys and just teach them a hook shot. Those guys then destroy teams on the boards. Last year it was the big at NC State that I liked. Way overweight but just kept getting the team wins. When Texas is officially done in the portal let us know what you like and don’t like about the team.
  19. I agree. They were after Wells too and he stayed in the draft. I had a little laugh about that one.
  20. When the combine ended Texas led for him. Everything changed when the agent asked for 1.5 million. And he would have had enough minutes because he would have split time at the four and five positions. All of this was known before and after the draft. And Texas lead before and after. Money changed this. Texas did not match that amount and it’s hello Lubbock.
  21. I was hoping that kid would take a look at Texas. Who knows if they add anyone at this point? Even if they do it’s a 5 to 10 minute player.
