  1. Bowls weren’t a huge thing before Paterno’s era. Case in point, Notre Dame’s first bowl appearance since 1925 was against us in the 1970 Cotton Bowl. The UPI didn’t even count bowl participation when determining their national title until 1974.
  2. Hartline is a coordinator, they don’t need to wait on him if he’s their guy.
  3. Who’s Ryan Williams? Is he related to Ryan He’s Only 17 Williams?
  4. DeBoer more than doubled his salary and worst case gets about $90 million for his efforts with more sympathy than scorn from the world outside Tuscaloosa. Pretty good deal.
  5. It’s still a great job and I’d be more than happy to leave Mississippi for Baton Rouge. I think most coaches see what that program has done this century, saw what a bad fit Brian Kelly was, and feel they too can lead them to glory. And keeping that talent home with no in state competition is a huge advantage few schools can offer.
  6. I sure don’t. I’ll take USC over OU any day of the week. Now I would find it funny if he does leave USC for another land locked school in a second tier conference.
  7. Because he believes, like a lot of people, that the LSU job has a much higher ceiling than ole miss.
  8. Any potential B12 or ACC options?
  9. How ironic given your post was jumping in.
  10. I could see him picking a clone like Day did this year with Hartline. But he’ll be active on the headset regardless.
  11. I’d look elsewhere than Petrino.
  12. Did I miss something besides his Raiders experience? Please enlighten us all! I guess going down the NFL rabbit hole didn’t go how you thought.
  13. Um, he didn’t win. Pretty much like most Raiders coaches this century. And aged Al Davis was spinning through coaches late in his life. Sark even turned him down.
  14. And, most programs don’t consider his antics deal killers. Unlike, say, Art Briles.
  15. It is why LSU needed him today and not patiently and discreetly wait for the season to end. NFL has a far more sensible calendar for this stuff.
  16. I’m willing to bet it’s pretty damn common. Otherwise he wouldn’t be earning lottery money today.
  17. I think if CFB had a more sensible calendar we could better distinguish it. Which was my original point. Given the calendar there’s little time to make moves when won’t be detrimental to the other school. And ole miss and their culture is not one I’ll cry for, either.
  18. They were asked and answered. Couldn’t have been that obtuse.
  19. I couldn’t care less about Lane relative to any other coach who doesn’t work for us. I hope he fails miserably at LSU as it may open things up more for us in that state. I’m just wondering how he’s so different than virtually every other coach out there. They’re all in it for themselves. Let’s not get all in our feels over an ole miss coach leaving for LSU. Sheesh.
  20. Sure seems that way. When you spend more time saying look elsewhere that’s a tell.
  21. Well someone else gave specifics so you’re off the hook.
  22. You don’t think other schools are already reaching out to those guys? And once he was told to leave, he needed to build a staff. Would it have been any better if he had them stay if they were going to move on eventually? Think those guys who’d be ultimately leaving would be doing some poaching? Think Mateer ended up at OU by coincidence when his OC moved? This stuff happens all the time and everywhere. I’ll bet even Sark, Banks, etc, made a few whispers to players wondering about their future at Bama.
  23. I asked for your tiop ones. Cute dodge though!
