  1. Title IX guarantees access not comp. Revenue sharing will rule the day.
  2. One, Stanford, if they chose to.
  3. It’s a projection based on gate receipts, staff costs, travel costs, etc. And now that revenue sharing is in the mix it will even be tougher for even the marginal revenue sports to be profitable. Nothing sexist about it.
  4. “NCAA not making available the schools where softball programs are profitable” What does this even mean? My point remains you seem to know enough to play the sexism card while not knowing the economics of the sport you’re criticizing. That seems rather incongruent to me.
  5. You need the NCAA to get ticket prices? Yet you know enough to claim sexism. Gotcha
  6. I will agree that our softball team is a unicorn in college softball. But UT sports are that way in general. Austin is the largest market without a pro sports team. If we chose to add men’s and women’s lacrosse they’d have the best gates in collegiate lacrosse. How many D1 softball programs are there? How many would you consider profitable? How many have a similar gate yield as baseball?
  7. Assuming production is halted and distribution is highly limited that card could be really valuable if one of those guys becomes a star.
  8. It isn't sexism to see ratings, attendance and admissions to come to the conclusion that profits won't happen for the foreseeable future. You can say the same for many men's sports.
  9. Judas did us a favor. Neither kid panned out.
  10. Tausch was actually a TE recruit in 77, got an injury redshirt so he still had 4 years in 78-81. Tremendous player.
  11. I know, Comer was a great one. Awful injury. Back then 6’3” 230 was prototype NFL tight end. Hell, he was bigger than most of our OL those days!
  12. I don’t think it’s sexism to assess profitability. Lots of things go into that. Lots of men’s sports at the collegiate level don’t make a profit.
  13. Gotcha, because you directly responded to that play against arky. But you were actually discussing a play that occurred dearly a year before.
  14. Crashed into who, Street? That didn’t happen either. Peschal? Who could that have happened?
  15. You do know Street threw into bracket coverage on that play.
  16. Tough to get recognized if you’re not an employee, and today’s NIL gives them every incentive not to be.
  17. Courts will be striking a bunch of this down.
  18. I’d say in this case it worked well. She was the featured player of this tournament.
  19. Pete Lammons could play too. A great TE who held the career receptions record at Texas for 15+ years, he even intercepted Joe Namath twice in the Orange Bowl doing double duty as a LB.
  20. So Luck wouldn’t do what you or any reasonable observer wouldn’t have found objectionable. You think that’s a good thing? We can only guess if Luck could find a capable coach. Perhaps he wouldn’t have had the temerity to poach a good one from a quality program because he avoids conflict and other unpleasantness.
  21. When you have a 30 year incumbent AD who refuses to do his job, what do you do? Unload him and get a replacement to finish the job. You end up with a Patterson because “better” candidates like Luck don’t have the sack to do what’s necessary. If Luck really thought he would be insulated by having the President or some regent fire Mack first it only doubles his spinelessness and naïveté. Do you believe Luck would have been tarnished in any way by firing Mack? Wouldn’t you want a guy who can come to grips with the more unpleasant aspects of a 7 figure job?
  22. He would have been better but not what we needed, wouldn’t have been an upgrade over Dodds (who I considered second tier) and a sorry excuse for an AD of Texas’ standing. Anyone who’d turn down an opportunity like Texas because he refused to clean up his predecessor’s mess doesn’t deserve it. Remind me again about that Arizona team he did wonders with.
  23. What are the Arizona Coyotes? Did I say “he was the same” as Paterson? If so please copy and paste.
  24. A guy who won’t take a job because he has to do the obvious is not a guy built for the long haul. He might have been an upgrade over Patterson but he couldn’t pack CDC’s lunch. Remind me again of Luck’s incredible career accomplishments since 2013.
