When there’s no threat of the pass the d can load the box and send six at will. Works both ways.

It’s the complement to the run sets up the pass. If defenses know you can’t handle pressure or see open receivers, they with send six often.

Funny how our line and running game looked so much better when Arch was hitting open receivers and defenses stopped loading the box. See the fourth quarter of Oh St for more detail. And, no, you don’t have to answer. But you did make the statement. Tragic you can’t make any sense on it.

We went to the playoffs and semi finals two and three seasons ago. Sorry that seems so long ago.

As I said it’s mostly on Arch the last two weeks. Sark’s problem was not pulling him. I even said if Arch could only have hit on a few of those whiffs we could direct our ire on Sark. Ultimately it’s all on Sark. Once more, when did Texas “break” Arch?

He rebounded nicely last year and finished strung against a few ranked teams. This year we were undefeated, ranked #1 with wins over the number one and fifteen teams. When exactly did Texas “break” Arch?

I’d say the brunt is on Arch for the last two weeks. Sark’s problem is not sitting him.

And Quinn didn’t whiff on open receivers nearly as much. And despite his lack of mobility fared far better than Arch on blitzes.

My take is if Arch simply connected on half of his self inflicted misses (see Max Browne YouTube) we win against Florida and we can direct our ire to Sark.

Despite that Arch missed open receivers when we were forced to pass. Given all the misses and inability to react to the blitz, defenses saw they could load the box and blitz the gaps all day long.

It’s looking like less and less of a coincidence that our running game found life after Arch started hitting passes against Oh St. And it happened in that order, not the other way around.

Quinn didn’t have a running game after Brooks went down against TCU in 2023. And only a marginal one in 2024, yet we still went to the national semis. I’ll take failures like that all day long compared to the Arch era.

I thought our offense under Quinn was very good when we had Brooks and Blue together. And remained competent even when Brooks got hurt and Baxter never getting back to full speed. The difference this year is Arch.

Our scheme is based on a QB operating in a competent manner. Is that too heavy a lift to expect for Arch?

He misses lots of open guys, ace. Which cost us first downs, touchdowns and positive yardage to sustain drives. If Arch only hit half of those misses (not much to ask) we would have won not only Saturday but probably against OU. We have no “scheme or identity” because our QB is not playing competently. Simple as that.
