  1. At one point during the game I started to wonder "why do our highly rated freshman WRs like Ffrench and Lockett (ranked # 9 and # 2 in the class) sit because they haven't learned our system while Wilson (# 😎 is playing like an All-Conference dude in his first game?" (edit: for some reason trying to type hashtag 8 in ( ) brings up the sunny emoji - lol) Maybe our system is too complicated?
  2. This is absurd, even delusional. Jeremiah Smith and Ryan Williams were light years better by any metric.
  3. Tossing my hat in the ring for the free sub ... who was closer? Edit: I think Bobbers was closer for sure ...
  4. "Cowboys Rookie RB Missed Practice Time Due to Blisters From Louis Vuitton Cleats" Questionable decision? LOL
  5. Florida 20 Texas 17 (Pate got me thinking worse case - 12 penalties on Texas, two fumbles, Arch struggles a bit, DJ wakes up and makes two plays) I really think it will be more 24-20 Texas but picking Florida is my only chance at the free sub for a year - hope I'm wrong lol
  6. Watching Josh Pate prediction and the dude is picking Florida to upset Texas. I was surprised (I like Pate's takes, usually). "Texas vs Florida...Preview & Prediction - Josh Pate's College Football Show" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJcMfz-zaXI
  7. Read it carefully and it makes sense - "Mateer leads the Sooners to shutout the Horns" ? Guys, clearly he's playing on defense if he's going to lead them to a shutout. Right? Travis Hunter-like, playing both ways and winning the Heisman Trophy.
  8. When scouting the Florida defense everyone is so worried about are we looking at numbers or watching plays? The Florida defense that's been on display is NOT the defense we're going to see in terms of scheme or personnel. They lack the depth they had going into the season, which is why a game by game is the best approach to take. While the numbers look good there are so many players and positions to attack. Florida likes to keep their safeties back to limit explosives. Well with their best DL in street clothes and youth at both linebackers, if Sark decides he wants to get back to himself and run his counters and misdirection big plays are there for the taking. The weakest position group on the field for Florida will be linebacker. Go back and watch the Miami game, yeah I get it Miami's offensive line blah blah blah, but the success Miami had running their zone runs and GT counter had more to do with linebackers running themselves out of the play and not fitting the run well more than anything. If those linebackers play with the eye discipline they had and fitting the run like they did against Miami, they will have to drop a safety in the box. Playing press on the outside is easier to do with guaranteed help over the top, but the equation changes when you have to do it on an island. As fans have patience and be ready to be frustrated until Sark makes Florida come out of their 2 High shell, and when they do strike up the band.
  9. Just to be clear I'm not referring to Blake's post, but rather a spam post that was subsequently removed.
  10. Be careful about clicking that link guys ... smells like spam
  11. I saw Kliff Kingsbury hired by the Arizona Cardinals as head coach and he never accomplished half of what Riley did. Not saying 'hire Riley', just doubling down on your comment about the strange decisions owners sometimes make.
  12. Ole Miss faces only 2 currently ranked teams the rest of the schedule but they are Georgia in Athens and OU in Norman back-to-back. If they win both of those (and don't furk up against the lesser foes like SoCar or Mississippi State) they surely deserve to be highly ranked, but I'm guessing they lose at least one and probably both. 10-2 and maybe missing the conference title game would still probably get them into the playoffs and more power to 'em. 9-3 (highly possible) and they will likely not make it. Bama faces five ranked teams (three in a row) plus @SoCar and @Auburn. Plenty of time to drop one or two, don't crown 'em just yet. Still 7 SEC teams undefeated in conference and 6 with just one loss ... it's gonna be crazy
  13. You could probably make a solid argument that it's already 3 tiered - those with near-zero hope of making the playoff (half? more?), those with a chance every few years if things break right for them, and the 15-20 true heavyweights whose fan bases will be angry if they are NOT in the running for the CFP at least every couple years.
  14. OK, I take back my suggestion to fire CDC. We should probably keep him around ...
  15. What, no UT ice hockey team? Fire Chris Del Conte !! The Longhorns do have an excellent Quidditch program - surely we can find a connection between that and the NHL that's of interest to someone somewhere ?
  16. Possibly "cleared for full competition in" 15 days you say? Just in time for the Texas game ... what a coincidence.
  17. For some reason while reading this I flashed back to 1977 (hopefully not one of the three you missed lol). The cleat was on the other foot that year as our # 1 QB (Mark McBath) suffered a season-ending injury on the 7th play of the game, then our # 2 QB (Jon Aune) came in and HE was injured (season-ending) after 9 plays (those Sooners were a tough bunch on defense). I remember thinking "we are screwed now". Randy McEachern, who had barely played, came in and played well enough, 4-8 passing for just 57 yards but handing off to Earl Campbell, who scored the only TD, and avoiding getting injured himself. And we won 13-6 on our way to an undefeated regular season. (Still too soon to speak about the ensuing Cotton Bowl game) You never know.
  18. Always enjoy your "fan in the stands" posts, keep 'em coming. The more sites the better. And while I got the Bluto German bombers joke I think you need to be at least a certain age to remember the movie and Belushi. I didn't understand "Jimmy Napier" but figured maybe everyone else but me was in on the joke so I let it pass lol ... +1 for Sundancekid there.

  20. Not quite getting this stat - first we "are tied with Missouri for the fifth-most sacks in the SEC" - OK, clear enough. Then later in the sentence there are "eight SEC defenses piling up more sacks than Texas" - which would make us 9th, not tied for 5th, unless some teams played more games or ?
  21. You're right about Peyton, he was the only one to start as a freshman (frosh were not eligible when Archie played). Eli sat for two years and started in his redshirt soph season, just like Arch. And Eli had the best start by far - from the article: "Eli lost his second career start at Auburn, 27-21, but he threw for 265 yards and rallied the Rebels from a 27-0 deficit to make it interesting in the fourth quarter. ... Manning responded by winning his next three starts, against Kentucky, Arkansas State and Alabama. Eli’s totals through his first five starts were the best among all four Mannings: 105-of-168 passing (62 percent) for 1,398 yards, 11 touchdowns and one interception. His season totals: 259-of-408 passing (63.5 percent) for 2,948 yards, 31 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Eli won the Maxwell Award and earned second-team All-America honors in 2003, his final season at Ole Miss." --- (/quote) I'm most impressed by the win against Alabama. I think many of us would be OK if Arch ends up with similar season numbers - 259-of-408 passing (63.5 percent) for 2,948 yards, 31 touchdowns and nine interceptions - but given all the preseason Heisman hype a lot of people would still feel let down. And of course a lot will depend on our final record and how well Arch plays in the biggest games. 11-1 or 10-2 and I'd be happy. 9-3 and sneak into the playoff? Eh, disappointing but not a disaster. 8-4 or worse - no one here will be satisfied.
